OK , these acoustic solutions tvs are by all accounts a terrible product , more importantly they are mis-advertised as a HD TV , they apparently only have a VGA PC input and component in , both of these analog connections.

There is no DVI or HDMI , and as such they should not be advertised as HDTV's , stay well clear is the message over on AVforums ,

Acoustic solutions license a name only to argos to re badge stuff , they do not support these TV's in any way.

They also have Bush HD tv's 32inch reduced from €799 to €704

Years ago everybody had Bush tv's only. Are they crap too?

Are you getting digital tv confused with high def tv

the current HDTV standards are defined in ITU-R BT.709 as 1080 active interlaced or progressive lines, or 720 progressive lines, using a 16:9 aspect ratio.

would have thought component connection provide HD picture, does on my TV anyhow

There is no misadvertising there. These are HDTV's but they are not HD ready. ie they can't accept a HDCP signal over HDMI/DVI.

They will still display HD fine and will work with nearly all sources, but in the future when HDCP is used more you will be screwed.

The first line on the argos product page claims that they're HD ready.

The licensing agreement for the use of HD ready logo requires that

"The display device accepts HD input via:
    - Analogue YPbPr, and
    - DVI or HDMI"

So if it doesn't support DVI or HDMI, it's not HD ready. Mind you, I'm sure they're not using the HD ready logo, they're just describing it as HD ready. Which is still misleading as it's not.
