Hi, I am not a fan of this service but at least it was some sort of competition to the dross from RTE news. Employees are being briefed now on their futures. (Heard ths on 98fm)

What angers me here is the perception that this in some way justifies the ameteur ways of RTE news and we all know what I mean. The stupid mistakes and silly errors look like something we will have to get used to as there is no competition other then the tame TV3 news.

Sky News Ireland is awful. I have no problem losing 60 minutes of completely unnecessary Irish news when I can get all the news I need on RTE, TV3 and BBC. I'll put up with a few technical gaffs for that.

That said, some people I worked with jumped ship to take jobs in Sky News Ireland in the last six months, and I feel bad for them. Television jobs are hard to come by.

Agreed, I hate when that happens. If I wanted to watch Sky News I would watch Sky News.

Im looking at this from the perspective of RTE. Like I said I didnt like SNI but at least it was some sort of competition. We need competition to force RTE to a higher standard where stupidity is actually punished and standards improve. Therefore I dont like any competition to RTE going down the drain no matter how drab it is.

    Seems to be true:

    Plus several other sources.

And on the same day that TG4 celebrates ten years... Didn't Gráinne do well to jump ship! Did she know something that we didn't?

Heh. I haven't watched TV3 News in a long while. Is it just me or has TV3News got worse over the years? The newer graphics particulary I dislike. I'll not even go into discussing their presenters!
