    hi lads,

i have abit of a problem, i was trying to partition my external hard drive (using norton partition magic) the other day, after doing what i had to do,it asked me to re-boot in order to take effect. After re-booting i found that my hard drive had been completely wiped.
So after losing 200 GB of data i went down to the local PC repair shop and the guy told me it would cost me 60 euros to access the problem but it can be restored.

Is there anyone out there that knows how this can be done or if i can do it myself??

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks guys

Did you have unpartitioned space prior to partitioning on the drive? If not what did you do, resize the main partition and create new ones?

This tool might work: http://www.partition-recovery.com/quest1.htm but try it at your own risk.

Next time backup any data, and you should also defrag your drive prior to partitioning as well, especially if you're resizing partitions.

To be honest i was just messing around with partition magic and this was the last thing i thought would happen, it is a 250GB hard disk and was nearly full, i am mad with myself for not reading more up on it before attempting to use it but heard that it was pretty straight forward. I havent saved anything onto the disk since.
Wat is the guy in the shop going to do that i cant??

run a recovers software program, for 60€.

Nice money earner for him tbh. When you can do it yourself for free.
