Anyone know if the 360 upscales DVD's to 720p or 1080i?
Just wondering cos I don't have an upscaling player, its only 576i or whatever dvds normally are. Would be good for my hdtv :)

well my360 is only 576p on my hdtv through component - maybe it does upscale through dvi? im fairly sure the new hd drive will upscale standard dvd's or maybe the next dash update will allow this?

either way, my dvd's look much better on my 360 through my hdtv than a standard dvd player for some reason :)

The next dash update, out today, will allow you to upscale DVD's to 1080P.

I know a few who've got it in england already.
Log out an then back in?Play an arcade game?
And playing off of a dvd with 1080P .WMV files works perfect!

Forgot to add 1080P upscaling is only for VGA!

Xbox 360 does not upscale dvds. DVDs are output at the standard resolution of 480i. Of course I can't remember where I got this information, but it should be possible to check.

Oopps! Make that output P not I. It's 480P - Progressive Scan. No upscaling.

    Cheers

The 360 upscales DVD's over VGA.

Wrong it will with a VGA cable upscale all the way to 1080p.
Before the update it output 576p, over VGA.

Component is still at 480p however.

    Why?
VGA output is not limited by the same restrictions of component, namely CSS for DVD's.

@lafors, 480p has nothing to do with US DVD's, the native output of a DVD should be 576p, most display's can detect what resolution they're showing, check it next time.
