Noisy Water Tank

Hi wondering if anybody out there can help. i moved into a second hand apartment (its about 5 years old) there about 6 months ago. we never realised that the person there had turned the water off at the mains and we continued to use the water for about a day until it ran out . Anyway the water tank we have feeds the the heating system and all the plumbing in the apartment, lately tho we have noticed that if we use more then one tap at the same time there is a really loud reverberating noise that comes from the tank which lasts for about 30 seconds to a minute. this is starting to become more frequent as well.
also the pressure in the boiler constantly needs to be topped up (every 3-4 weeks) so i was wondering if this is an air lock in the system or a pressure issue

any help would really be appreciated, thanks

Hi. the loud noise you hear is called water hammer it usually happens when pipes aren't secured properly. Normally handy enough to fix. And if your topping up your heating system every 3 to 4 weeks you more than likely have a leak somewhere!! Do you have concrete floors?

Thanks willah i will check the pipes tonight and see how secure they are. Yeah we are the bottom floor apartment so there are concrete, do u reckon the flooding is under there ?

I wouldn't say flooding but possibly a small leak. I've seen it before not easy to fix hence the need for a kango! Finding the leak can be half the battle. Sometimes when you lift wooden floors carpet etc you notice a big wet/damp patch this is normally where the leak is...
