Howdy, Ive got in and around 200-300 dvds and looking for some way to display them next to the tv on a shelf or stand of some sort. I dont like the kind that displays them upwards...example below

    I dont like this ones - http://www.feldmanfurniture.com/pmidimages/%7B72337164-A9AA-4ADC-84A9-2535454F0282%7D.jpg

Ideally, im looking for something like this. But cheap...and bigger, obviously.

how are ya at DIY? Would probably be alot cheaper and you could get a much better quality unit if you built it yourself. Not that hard.

Try posting this in Woodcraft forum. Someone there would make this for you.

    Q?

Well if you compromised between the two designs, you could get 2-3 of those upright CD shelving type units and stand them side by side.
I paid 20 quid for one in atlantic homecare, holds about 160 CDs, so would take maybe 80-100 DVD cases (the shelves are adjustable).
They store the discs on their ends rather than on the flat (ie in the desigin you don't like)
Maple or ash veneered MDF, self assembly. Can't find it on their website (not really so surprising)

[edit] Here's a pic of mine

That was only 20 quid ? Nice, looks a bit high though. I'll look into it, thanks.
