Just back from this. It got going at 3pm and I started on Table 10 seat 1. Seat 10 was empty for the first orbit then the Fossilman takes his seat. Nice guy, full of non-pompous chat and genuinely interesting stories. He played like a complete rock despite the crappy structure (3k starting stack, 30 min blinds). I got invloved with maybe 6 hands with him and won them all except 1 tie. In one he called my BB and I had 6/2 off suit. We checked it to the river when I stuck in 2 BBs for fun and he folded showing 5/2, I showed and the 6 would have paid lol.

220 runners approx. By level 4 nearly half the field was gone including the chief who busted out after the 2nd level having started it as CL :)

Im naturally tight early but didn't see much in the way of cards and had maybe 4k by first break. 2nd or 3rd hand after restart a 3k stack went AI and I called with QQ which held up.v his AK. Soon after our table broke and I was to the left of Jimmy Tan on table 5 and to the right of MAD JOE.

A funny hand arose at the 800/400 (100 ante) stage. I was down to about 3.5k after posting my BB and I said to Jimmy Tan (who went AI on my last BB) that if it was folded to him and he didnt pass I would go AI blind. When it came to him he called so I pushed blind. Unfortunatly I didnt see that MAD JOE had flat called UTG while I was talking to Tan and I nearly fell off my chair when JOE called like a light. Jimmy folded. Joe flips up AK and my 9 6 off looked in trouble. Flop was K high with a six to keep me interesed, turn blank and after I put my coat on a 2nd 6 hits the river for a peach suck-out. JOE's cunning plan back-fired. Of course I told him I would have folded if he raised pre-flop.

It only paid 18 and we got down to 38 where the avg was about 15k. My A5 sooted didnt hold up v serial raisers KQ for a 20k pot and I went home. MAD Joe was still in as was BOB from the Fitz who was racing ahead early on.

A great experiance playing with top class players for a relatively cheap buy in. Well worth it even though missed the money (which was massivley top heavy, of the 62k 20k to 1st and 10k to 2nd).

I'm no great player but I have to say I found the standard in the Friday night Fitz scalps game much higher then this. In fact, the hardest part of the tourney was keeping concentration with all the stunning girls wandering around :)

Dunno how the boardsies did, if anyone knows fill us in.

    Kincsem was in seat 7.

I was always short-stacked and not seeing many starting hands except QQ twice, once on my BB when I raised and collected 50 or 75 chips. The second QQ was against 33, the board had trip 8s.

With Katja Thater (seat 9) on 9000+ and Greg Raymer (seat 10) with about 6000 from early I had to drop a lot of hands when raised.

Your win with the 62 was amusing. Greg saw the fun in it.

The table had a high Scandi element, but they were not aggressive, because Katja had such a big stack, and was prepared to use it.

Greg Raymer was as I expected, courteous, considerate, and ready to chat. I wish I had a recording of his chat, as he often commented on his play, and his opponent's play, and the reasons he raised or folded. He definately plays the player, as much as the cards.

Beard and glasses, I remember. I've seen you around before. You didn't seem to get any luck in the early stages. That girl Katja doubled up 1st hand then knocked another player out 2 orbits later. She was tough. She raised 4 bbs from the button just before the first break on my BB, greg folded and she had done this a couple of times before. I looked down at pocket Js. Previous to this Greg had made a re-raise in a similar situation (to your raise I think) and when the OR folded he showed JJ. I decided to do the same and she thought about it for a while and bailed. I didnt show though.

Nice to put a face to a boardsie name. Will say hello next time I see you.

    I finished 14th for €860.

Sat in seat 2 table 3 for 8 hours until we broke to 3 tables! I was the only one (that started) of my table left at this stage which says something (yeah that i was lucky!!) considering Roy Brindley, Ian Woodley and one of the Norsemen all started with me and Mr Raymer avec bracelet joined later on.

Happy with my performance - I did get lucky with 2 cruel suckouts (A4 vs Raymers QQ :D + K10d vs AA:D ) but before and after I played good poker and typically came down to a race where I got all my chips in ahead for a 80k(615k total chips in play) pot with 7k behind with 16 players to go. 19k for 1st and 10k for 2nd ... it would have set me along way towards it. JJ vs AQ turned in to quad Aces by the river

Got it all in next hand (7k) with 55 which held against AK and with antes and blinds that got me back to 19k. Then 2 hands later BB announces all in blind for 7.5k (blinds 1500/3000 ante 400) before the cards are dealt and its folded around to me in SB and I had to call with K2h. When he turned them over he had QJd and flopped a J - typical!

Got it all in with A3s vs KK (against the scandie that had the AQ) flopped a 3 and turned a flush draw but alas 14th place was my destiny. Next time!
