Harvey Norman do something that really annoys me. For eg.. Alot of their products they Advertise for eg. samsung 32" LCD " Was 1659 nor €1459 " Since when was it 1659 ? Especially when they store is only open no more then 1 week. I noticed that on alot of products I seen when the blanch store opened.

Still they continue to do it on alot of their stuff, Make they products look like bargains by advertising " was... Now "

Harvey norman = Meh to me. Nothing special.

Also, Looking at the specs of that HP from the site, Its terrible. A 2.93 Ghz P4 ? 1GB ram, 7300LE. Either them specs or terribly wrong on the site, Or you got ripped off.

    Hj

If they are the specs of the machine the OP bought (allowing for the usual country variations) it was never worth €1500 and I can't see it being worth €999 either.

Thats illegal to advertise like that if its true.

To advertise that a price is lowered From X amount to Y amount the product has to be on sale at X amount for at least 30 days within the past 90 days.
    Otherwise it is false advertisment.

rofl - that machine isn't even worth 999 euro. An old Pentium 4 processor, and a crap graphics card....and only 1gb ram, not 2.

if xmas came early for you i feel sorry, seeing as you were nearly robbed rather then got a bargin

OP sounds like an employee anyway.
6 month and 12 month interest free finance options. Bring photo ID and an addressed bill. Xmass came early for me

Who else would peddle overpriced tat like that? :D

AFAIK, a shop can clain "WAS" prices provided ONE of their stores carried that item at that price for 28 days (open to correction here). I remember reading it in an Argos Catalogue sometime.

I agree with HungryJoey - I'm sick of them advertising with these WAS...NOW stickers, as the consumer is fairly powerless to challenge these companies on these claims.

I have to admit, the claim does draw the eye though, so if it increases sales by a few percent, they will continue to do it until they fear being exposed!

    :)

Just to compare, Dell do the same machine for about 300 euro less, and for 100 less, a far better Core 2 Duo machine with a better 19" monitor.

he was only telling people where to buy a reduced computer, I'm sure he isn't selling the item. If people want to show criticism, they should direct their criticism at Harvey Norman, not the poster

    BTW Currys is best :D:D

Build it yourself or get someone you know to do it for you. Components aren't that expensive with the exception of your cpu and gfx. It depends what you want it for really.

I hope to god that currys in the best was a sarcastic one.
