Honda start problem

    Folks,

I might be guilty of a technical infringement here so if I am please forgive me for being a clot!!!

The Honda I speak of is a 4 wheeled type - a quad - so 2 wheelers might thump lumps outta me for even mentioning it - anyway...

This quad had a starting problem - which I eventually tracked down to the starter motor itself.I had this reconditioned and put it back on the bike.

Problem was I had to open the starter crankcase housing to get it out and when I put everything back( sprockets etc.) as I thought it should go the starter is now turning but not "engaging" the engine and turning it over..

It will start on the kick though

What have I screwed up ???

If yiz don't scream at me for even mentioning such an nasty thing in the firts place thanks in advance for any and all advice

Maybe the starter is turning the wrong direction after the rebuild ( seen that once) , it would spin but not engage the starter clutch. Otherwise you must have left something obvious out.
