Have a Toshiba A40. Getting an IDE #4 error on boot up. Read a few forums and they suggest fixing the pins. So i need to know how to remove the cd rom drive. I took out the screw and gently tried to remove it, didnt work.

Now i dont know much about this, but is there anything else i need to remove? Or just jank harder?

Golden rule with any type of computer - nothing neds to be forced when either inserting or removing. Check if there is any catch or slider to release the drive, similar to a battery release catch.

Apply a little force, but under no circumstances should you over do it.

There is generally a button near/on the drive that you push to release the drive. Could be underneath it.

If there is clearly none then try to pull harder but don't yank it. I had a Gateway laptop once on which the only thing holding the drive in was the connection. Very odd and it fell out once or twice. Good thing the laptop was free or I'd be pissed.
