I just got a new Inspiron 6400, fairly impressed by it so far, apart from the ridicoulous amount of **** software pre loaded on it, anyone know if its safe to uninstall all this, eg. McAfee, Google esktop etc.?

Yes its safe enough. Make sure you replace the antivirus scan and firewall. Get AVG, Anti-Vir or avast! for your antivirus, they all have free editions and are better than McAfee. Turn on your Windows Firewall and grab a copy of Zone Alarm also.
