had an unusual one last night at our home game.
    couple of limpers
to sb who completes (100/200 blind level)
    bb raises by 1000.
    folded quickly to sb.
sb goes into a huddle. had left hand covering cards while he thought players on his right couldn't see the cards players on left could.
BB cant see and assumes that he had folded and dumps his cards into muck and goes about taking in chips when all hell breaks loose.

BB cards have been mucked so looses pot.- However sb had been "hideing" his cards. messy one.
In the end whole hand called void chips handed back to everyone and both get a lecture.

    what do others think?

It would depend on the level of sneakiness and shit-headery displayed by the SB.

Unless the SB was blatantly trying to be deceptive, i'd award it to the SB. You can't assume someone's folded - you need to hear them say fold/pass or see them push their cards in. Otherwise, leave your cards where they are. I guess it's a bit harsh, but it was a pretty stupid mistake on the part of the BB.

to be fair, it was purely by accident. he , to say the least, isn't too used to the game. there was no sneakiness and ****-headery at all.

Depends how rigid you are when enforcing rules. I think in a home game where everyone knows each other, a bit of diplomacy doesnt go a miss. If every one agrees with voiding the hand then so be it, especially when people are learning the ropes. Why fall out over something trivial. Not the WSOP after all.

to be honest we are quite strict on the rules attitude being of play the rules you would in a decent tourney.
    proplem both broke the rules
sb by covering his cards, bb by mucking his cards.

How?? SB didn't. Unless he was hiding them with his hands - under the table!!. If his cards were on the table face down infront of him then it dosn't make any difference where his hands were and he wasn't breaking any rules. (IMO)

The BB made a classic mistake here - he acted out of turn. It easily happens but after it costs you a few quid a few times you tend to watch whats going on.
