Claiming Back Emergency Tax While still working for same Employer

    Hi,

I've searched the forums and i've failed to find any emergency tax threads that directly relate to my issues. In short, I contacted the PAYE system to avoid emergency tax however they took too long sending my tax credit cert. to my employer.

On my first pay Cheque i've been charged a very large sum of emergency tax, i've contacted them and i've been instructed this will be refunded in the form of tax credits at the end of the year (Whoopdeedoo).

I prefer cold hard cash rather than the promise of tax credits, is there anyway of putting in a claim for an immediate refund one month after having paid emergency tax on my first monthly wage package?
(is there any line i could use that might entice them to issue a cheque immediately?)

    Thanks for the help,

    Samba

You will get it back in your next pay cheque.

According to our finance people your current employer is obliged to refund any overpaid tax from previous epmployment in the current tax year.
