NTL digital feed without scart

    Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the digital channel from ntl to be sent on the coax cable as a regular channel?

My video is old and doesn't have a scart input so I would like a way of tuning in the ntl digital without one.

I was talking to someone with sky and they have a special menu option which will switch this on but I can't find anything similar for ntl.

    Thanks, Vin

Because it isn't there. totaly unrelated design of box and system.

Buy a new VHS at under €70. It will probabily be the last one in the shops. All the big retailers have stopped selling them. They are still available and still made.

If you can get an S-VHS, better still as even with ordinary VHS tapes quality is better and for self recorded S-VHS tape can be close to a good analogue in PVR. Twice the quality of original VHS.

Does it have BNC or similar input connectors?

I used a scart to BNC converter kit to connect an old JVC to an NTL box, works fine. Just had to pick the right adapters & plug it all together.

You can get these kits in most TV shops/Maplins.Harvey Normans/etc.

True. But if it is as old as that the OP should consider buying his/her last VHS. may not be able to buy one at all soon.

Agreed, but some of the old VCR's were really well made & might outlast more modern cost reduced stuff.

I have an old JVC HRD140 that records really well , not as good as S-vhs, but as good or better than cheap VCR's with plastic chassis which warp after a couple of years or start chewing up plastic wheels in the load mechanism.

Still, a new VCR should last at least 2~5 years without giving trouble, & that's long enough for PVR's to drop to current VCR prices.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the responses.

I have a DVD\HD recorder which handles scart fine and is what I normally use for recording, but the remote has stopped working so I wanted a temporary solution while I get that fixed (annoying that there is no backup on modern systems, no remote = no functionality!).

I was hoping for a solution that didn't involve me buying anything for the VCR (which is still working but very old).

Will check if it has a BNC output since it'd be worth having it as a backup in case anything goes wrong in the future.

    Thanks, Vin
