Yes the Thursday night €20+3 mtt at the Jackpot is what I am referring to of course.....

    Anyway blinds at 50-100
I have stack of 3075 and my opponant has me covered.
I am in seat 9 and seat 3 is bb

I look down at 2 lovely aces, there has been 3 limpers I think so I make it 600 to play. Seat 1 is next player to my left and decides to call, I played 1 hand previousley with him, where I made it 600 pf and he min raised me, I folded and he showed Kings. So far he hasn't done anything worth noting but has been involved in a few pots. I not played many hands due to fact I am dealing as well and have been raised off a few hands so may seem bit weak-tight.

2 of us to the flop and it is a quite horrific Ts Jd Qd
    Pot is 1550 I think
I decide to make it 800
    He raises it to 2000.

    I have 1675 left
    So what next?

i call the all in here too, your up against smaller pairs and flush draws too often for it not to be profitable.

I think your post flop bet is too weak. It causes you more problems than anything else. Its a weak bet so he could easily put you on a bluff. I would have bet 1500. Now if he comes over the top, you know he has a hand. This would have been 700 more chips but a more informative bet. It lets villian know you are strong.

    Just my opinion.

You say your opponent has you covered. What is his stack actually like? That flop left him with alot of room for semi bluffing back at your continuation bet, especially if he had you very well covered so to speak. I would push here if he has a very large stack for sure. I would probably push anyway but I agree that the raise preflop was a little weak

Raise preflop was fine, its 6 BBs.
POSTFLOP:You need to make your decision for the rest of your money before you make your postflop bet.
If you decide the rest of your money is going in if he comes over the top, then you are as well off pushing your 2475 in there and then and be happy if you take the 1550 pot.
If you decide your folding if he comes over the top, your 800 bet (half pot) is fine.
Dont see any point in betting 1500 :( , its 2/3 of your stack and your pot committed then regardless.
The point is to decide on you plan before you make you bet.

As it played out, I'd call given the size of the pot, maybe put him on AQ.

sixpack: I couldn't tell you exactly how much he had, I'd say 6000 as a rough estimate.

Why I betted 800, tbh I just chose it, I sort of forget pot which is something I occasionally do live, I know I should always know it especially when I am dealing the thing. I didn't really have a plan for flop or specific reason for betting it, again a mistake I am well aware off.

Some interesting thoughts so far, I'll give it few more hours to see does anyone else want to chip in and then give results of what happened.

So he had alot of room to semi bluff your continuation bet and be very much alive afterwards. I am putting him on two pair though ;-) Look forward to the result

I think it's a call as well. A guy who makes a crappy min-raise with kings is likely to slow-play a hand like a straight. That leaves TT (I agree with Lyold that he raises pre with JJ+) or a 2-pair hand, which are likely here against this guy, so it is still tricky. But still, easy enough call.

800 bet is fine, 1500 way too much out of your stack, as has been mentioned. But I think once you bet much at all, you're commited anyway.

I think you should push on the flop.

    Right outcome time.

As I was thinking it through and berating that flop, the things that crossed my mind were the fact he could do this with lot of drawing hands although fair few 2 pairs hands as well, another important point was this guy was in his 50's, I say this matters because if your not under 25 and a student then why the hell are you playing a nearly self deal €23 buy in game unless you a poor or new player. I never come accross a good player at that game who wasn't a student,
Other concearns were being bored of dealing the table and knowing few mates were in bar nearby all prompted me to push.

He called of course and turned over KQ offsuit, lovely.
I then said the words I don't want a set and promptly dealt myself an ace on the turn, river is blank and the shout of dealer gone reverberated around the room. The second week in a row I dealt myself the badish beat.

As I said interesting replies, especially by Lloyd, great analysis of the hand and you were petty much spot on, I wish I was as good at analysis at the table, something I will just have to work on.
