Advice needed on company not paying wages owed

Ladies and gentlemen, your advice is appreciated :)

A friend of mine decided to quit his job yesterday evening. They fecked him over a huge amount (not bothering giving a roster until hours before he is supposed to start, blackmailing into working bad hours, and docking pay without any reasons).

Today, no pay was lodged into his account for the 33 hours he worked last week. So he will be calling the boss in the morning looking for an explanation. If they say that he isnt going to be paid the hours (and this is looking likely, as the company has a bad name for doing this), what can he do to reclaim this money?

Any and all advice is greatlyt appreciated!

I think he could bring the employer to the small claims court. Or if he wanted to he could just threaten the employer with the news papers and local radio, that might have an effect on the boss.

Failing that he will have to get legal advice.

Actually reading about the Small Claims Court, it appears that this might not be the way to go.

Did he ever get a pay slip ? to prove that he indeed work for the guy ?

Yeah, he has all payslips up until last week, showing the fact that he has received less than her normal hourly rate over the last several weeks. They docked him 60 euro one week, saying he was underpaid-but all his hours were accounted for.

I think they know that it may be too much hassle for an employee to bring them to court for a weeks wages.

Stand outside with a v large placard with details. The Labour Relations Commission will sort it out and will pay him compensation if they find in his favour, very helpful people.

I agree with Name and Shame.
