    Hi,
I have really only worked within my own particular profession ,where it is usual to put the letters for my degree after my name on my CV and other related correspondence.

However, now I'm taking a break, getting a temporary job etc. do I just mention my degree under education and leave the letters off my CV ?

    Thanks in advance :)

If it is just a degree or masters I would not put them after my name ....... just on your cv will do!

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's a veterinary degree and the letters indicate registration with the Irish and British Veterinary Councils.

This is based on personal opinion not experience but if the job has no relation to your veterinary background then I would leave the letters out. I would then list the qualifications and possibly memberships of professional bodies on the CV.

seems to be a relevance issue. if you are going for a job that has anything to do with your qualifications then definitely include them. They do stand out.

Not quite as much as where you've worked, what you've done and how long you did it for!

These days (Primary/Post Primary Degree Qualifications) are almost commodity stock, done the exams not quite the same as done the job. IMO I would be curious why someone would jump up and down (ie suffix to name) about quals. Might impress a Civil/Public Servant but says little about can do competencies!

    Beware the Braggers!!

    SSc, BSc

    That does feel good!

But I'd agree with not putting anything like that in the name field of a CV. I once saw a CV from someone who had his A+ and MCP qualifications after his name, like they were a doctorate. He didnt' get the job.

As of this evening I have more letters after my name than in my name (14) :p

    What a legend.

I don't think I will be putting them all down on my electricity bill and the likes though... as it seems that only those who don't have the skills and experiences to back up the quals are the ones who milk the letters to their max at every opportunity.
