Cameras On Road Signs

    Hi there,

I was heading into Dundalk town last night with my Dad, round the new bypass from Ballymascanlon to Zerox and he pointed out the small cameras that are on the side of the big Road Information Signs (You know the ones with traffic info and warnings about delays). He says these are the in use in France where they take a snapshot of your car and reg, and if you get to the next sign with a camera before a certain amount of time has elapsed you'll end up with a nice little fine for speeding...

There's a few of them between the Swords turnoff and the Airport turnoff and one just before the M1 turnoff for the M50. I think they're on the M50 Road Info signs too.

    Any one confirm???

The camera on the sign at the airport is used as part of a journey time system to calculate journey times for the council but NOT to issue speeding fines. SDCC operate a similar system on the N7 and N4
