I am currently in second year,
If I drop out now, and go into another course next september in a different college, will I only have to pay fees for first year, as I have left second year so early?

    Thanks for your help.

Please be more specific. What course in what college? What are you doing now?

You may be able to transfer from Trinity (today) to Cork (tomorrow). I assume it is UCC, so give them a call (from this page):

    Admissions Office
    West Wing
    University College Cork
    Cork
    T +353 (0)21 4903571
    F +353 (0)21 4903233
    E admissions@ucc.ie

    Admissions Officer:
    Dr Anne Mills

Apart from that, this page might be promising for you.

Contact your tutor about dropping out IMMEDIATELY, as you may be able to get your second year in full. Get the form ready so that s/he will only have to drop it in. But if you drop out and start another year in first year, you will have to pay at least the first year of the course (and this may be it, depending on the above).

Hey passport, i'm in 2nd year engineering too.

I dropped out of Accounting and Finance in DCU in Second Year and changed to TCD, but i left in January.

You will have to pay fees for first year. If you transfer to first year in UCC, provided you have the points, you probably won't have to pay anything extra for second year.

If you have to go through the whole cao process again, make sure you withdraw asap, because you may end up paying for half of second year too.

You won't get the €800 back. not a penny. that's not fees, that's administration charges, or something. Fees are separate.

I had to pay €5,800 for first year, and €3,480 for second year because i completed 1.5 years of my course in DCU. (That includes the €800)

As stated above, get talking to your tutor,ASAP!!!! That's what i did in DCU, and it helps big time.

    Good Luck
