I would hardly call an X1800 Mobility crap that is a very high end mobile GPU. The X1400 on the other hand is a pretty low end job.

6800 Ultra Go isn't in even the same league as an X1800 Mobility & has been replaced by the GeForce Go 7 series.

The mobile 7800GTX & X1800XT are pretty close to each other in terms of performance, there is a 7950 Go as well I think but no idea myself bar Dell where you might find notebooks with these sorts of GPU's in them. But it will probably be premium high end models.

Get an Intel Core 2 Duo (Allendale/Conroe). They are way ahead of any other cpu, even AMD's FX range.

    NB:
Don't confuse Core 2 Duo with the Dual core Pentium D or Centrino processors, currently being sold off by Dell.

Whoever gave the X1800 a bad review is an idiot - the x1800 mobility is rather new and would destroy a 6800 in benches

the x1400 if you're on a budget is still pretty ok and can run most current games on medium-ish

agreed, i have a 7300 in my laptop, plays css , dow, cod2 and others on relitivly high settings. Have a core duo too which helps a little.

If your looking for a gaming laptop there are not many choices out there, You have dell, rock direct and alienware. All of which cost a fortune when you spec it up.

Anti now that I have ya what sort of temps do you get with the 7300?

I have a slightly better (:p ) 7400 in my laptop and its decent for games but it hits almost 70c when idle - madness.

Would be curious to know what you get.

In gaming it goes up to 85 idle is around 50-60. But When im not gaming i run it on the powersaving profile. As the battery life is appauling. 40mins of a screensaver. 10 mins of a game. And the battery is 100% fine. Just crap

is it possible to get a good gaming laptop for around 1200-1300 euro

Ah cool thanks, don't feel so worried now, mine hits mid 70's when gaming, so its ok I guess.

Headshot - 1200, if you are willing to look around, should get you a mid range gaming laptop but not a high end one. I'd keep an eye out on the dell outlet...

Or alternatively, second hand would be a good bet.

    Probably

"Insp 9400 Base" - the basee model is an Inspiron 9400
    "Assy" - no idea
"Discrete video" - it has a proper graphics card, not integrated.
