    Hi,

    I'm considering buying a new kit, possibly the Pearl SMX. Just wondering what your opinions are as regards bass drum size?
    I would love to go for a 20" kick as space in my car is limited, but would it be loud enough? (I'm talking unmiked pub gigs, weddings, etc)
    Any advice would be great.

    I doubt you'd have volume issues with a 20 inch.
    Go below that and you might start noticing a more dramatic difference alright.

    Go into Musicmaker and ask to try one out.
    Better to actually hear the difference. You might find you prefer the overall sound of the 22, regardless of the volume.
