Can someone please recommend a route that cuts off the M7 somewhere before Dublin and re-joins the M1 after Dublin avoiding the M50? I will be traveling this route today and dont fancy the M50.

    X.

if coming from Limerick, take N52 at Nenagh, N52 at Borrisakane, N52 in Birr. or

    N62 at Roscrea, N52 Birr, N6 Kilbeggan, N52 Tyrellspass, N52 Mullingar, N52 Kells, N52 Adree, M1 Dundalk.

    or
N62 at Roscrea, N52 Birr, N6 Kilbeggan, N4 to Kinnegad, take road for town, not relief road, Take Trim road. In trim, head for Navan, in Navan take N51 to Slane and N51 to Drogheda. (N2 to Collon and then take road to Dunleer and then M1 is option also)

*edited as I start on Cork road, not Limerick :-)

There's no guaranteed fast way of doing it. You could try:

    M7 to Naas
    R407, Sallins - Clane - Kilcock
    R158, Kilcock - Summerhill
    R156, Summerhill - N3 - M50

That way you avoid the Westlink, and the M50 northbound is usually okay after that.

I regularly travel from Ardee to Newbridge for work the route i would use is as follows.

    M7 to Naas
    R407, Sallins - Clane - Kilcock
    R158, Kilcock - Summerhill - Trim
    R161, Trim - Navan

Then either of the following depending on the mood.

R162 towards Kingscourt at it's junction with the N52 (about nine miles from Navan) turn right to Ardee.

    Or

N51 to Slane followed by N2 to Ardee.

    From Adree N33 - M1.

Some of the roads are not the best but it is almost always quicker than M50.
