Is this the same tourney? Why open up a new thread.

Thing is that you've done this on the cl's bb blind. It costs him nothing to call, you almost sure of getting a call here.

That's why you should do this move before you're blinded down to nothing. 5bbs at the min. So at least it's not an autocall.

If you're minding you're ms and qs you should have read the chapter on this stuff.

Push is fine though I would have pushed earlier

I am aware of the ms and qs at all times but they refer to pushing when first in the hand. For some reason I am rarely folded round to on button and early pos you need at least a marginal hand to push with on small m. eg low pairs or suited connectors down to 56. Although with M<5 you could push with anythhing I suppose

Are you finding yourself getting short regularly in tournaments? Good players will always pick on the shortstacks, meaning you just get shorter still (unless you take a stand).

If you are regularly short, then maybe your mid-tourney game needs work. This is often the time where you need to open up a bit, and start stealing at least once a round (say), especially when you're not hitting cards. Also, maybe you're letting yourself get too short before making a stand. When this happens, your folding equity is weak, and you're often relying on show-down value.

This is probably all stuff you know anyway, but middle stages of tourneys are very important. Once you start getting short in the late stages, the game gets easy.

I think you need to relax on the new thread starting.

Ive been on the poker forum for a couple of years and started maybe 20 threads, youve done about half that in a day.

I thought you were supposed to pick on the medium sized stacks since they are less likely to play back. Please elaborate on this shortstack bashing...

Ok, when I say short, I don't mean down in the sub-5BB range. A good player obviously doesn't pick on anyone there without some sort of a hand.

I didn't explain myself very well, but I get the impression that the OP is playing too tight and letting himself get too short. A good player will definately see this, and keep picking on this type of player, even when the player should be playing back.

Anyway, it's all relative. There are some medium stacks that you should never pick on either, I think. And the occasional big stack that you should pick on for easy chips. It's all about identifying your target. And you should be doing this stealing from the mid-stages onwards, not just when you're down to 10BBs.

When I have a new question I post a new thread. I have alot of questions and 6 in a day for me is a very small % of my daily questions.

SO not being very familiar with this site yet I take it from the comments that you should post all your new questions under your original thread. Is this correct?
I am fairly familiar with the theory of poker and the theories ranges of the pros on how to play NL MTTs. Understanding their theories fully I am trying hard to work on. Some people in here are obviously ahead of me in that regard. I also need to work harder on my pot odd analysis. I can tell from the answers which people on here are successful and not of course and it is often the case that two strong posters have different opinions on my question. It is these situations that I learn the most from as I can see the contrasting thinking styles which is broadening my awareness.

Anyway, I like asking questions and I like to talk. I woud love to go into a 9 table STT on PPP with the strongest 8 players who regularly use the board here and see how it goes. I think it could be very enjoyable.

    shut up Aaron,
stop challenging people a day after you have joined a new forum.
its not appreciated here and the stronger players will just laugh at you and take a dislike and not reply to your future posts which will be your loss.
if you have a question just ask it ,its ok to start a new thread if its a new different question but what they are saying is that your other posts about the tourney was still of the first page and you could have just posted there asking your question .

Gholi, I'm guessing you know sixpac in person/real life but try to keep your tone a bit more friendly plz, ty.

Sixpac, feel free to ask questions, just try to group them into the same post, e.g. if you have 2 or 3 hands from a particular MTT that you want opinions on.

This forum has been going for quite a while and alot of the more common MTT situations have been posted and discussed several times, use the search function to see if your question has been asked before. Welcome to the forums btw!

Thank you Lafortezza. I was not aware of the search function either. Just learning to use this site. I must have a browse through it actually.

Ehsan is the only one I know in person on here and I will have to kick his ass for that tone. You are quite right Lafortezza that it was a a bit harsh on a rookie member just learning the ropes on the boards. I will take all your comments on board when using the site from now on. Also Ehsan, I hear ya on the the first page posts thanks for explaining the logic to me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 47 sixpac911

Actually Ehsan, I am not challenging anyone I would like to make that very clear. I would like to say that if my tone every ever seems to indicate that I am please ignore that it is probably miscomminication on my part. I am asking questions in here because I know there are alot of very strong players in here who are kindly willing to help me and others like me to improve my game. I have no disrespect for any person on here. In fact I think the vast majority of people on here to date have been very welcoming and very very helpful. I read and consider every reply that is posted. Actually I won 160 quid last night after reading this all day! So thanks guys !! Bear in mind I am only at $5 MTT level now. I have a very long way to go to get to the level of many on here

Congrats. Keep posting on here with any questions and there will always be someone to either help you or post a snide remark.

if your playing 2nite sixpac , id advise taking a shot at the 5k gtd 12$ rebuy at 9pm and the 3,5k $6 crapshoot at 9.40pm... not much difference in the standard of play. all donkeys and a cheap buyin. :)

Laf i do know Sixpac in person and he is a good friend of mine, but you are right and i should have not used that tone so apologies.

Thanks Vegas. However at the minute my 4 table game is fairly good and profitable. I almost need to know I have a day off with nothing to do to get in the right frame of mind for full length MTT! I usually get bored after abt 4-5 tables :-( And I cannot handle rebuys need to learn how to adjust my playto handle rebuys as the play is all in eery hand
