Commuting from Balbriggan

    Hi all,

Was hoping someone could help me out with a rough idea of morning and evening commuting times from Balbriggan to Guinness / ChristChurch area by car. I'm thinking of moving out there so travelled out a few evenings to get an idea. First few evenings it took just 45 mins but yesterday it took 1 1/2 hours. I'm very interested in morning commute times though as I could always leave the evening times till traffic settled down (if it does in this City)

    Thanks for any help.

    G

There are a few threads relating to Balbriggan in the Region Forum (East or Dublin City). You may get some info there.

Personally I would take the train and luas. I live beside Guinness and when I go home to Drogheda to visit, I *never* go through town, I always drive through the part and onto the m50 but this is never at rush hour. It would be hell at rush hour going through town or through the park.

I think it's about 40 mins from Balbriggan on the train.

Balbriggan to the IFSC takes 45 to 50 minutes in the morning leaving at 7am from Balbriggan, i.e coming off the slip road onto the M1 at 7.05am. That'll give you a rough time, obviously not the exact route of Guinness but a guide. Bad weather add to the journey, best to get the train these days, Monday, Thursday and Friday tend to be quieter on the roads than Tuesday and Wednesday.

During school holidays and slack periods you can shave 10 to 15 minutes off that time.

It NEVER takes any longer that this. The key is to be intelligent and listen out for potential trouble ahead and alter your route as a result. The M1 is not always the best route.

Train takes 45 minutes from Balbriggan to Connelly, platform to platform.

Personally I find a mix of 3/4 days driving and 1/2 days on the train is perfect.
