Analogue Chorus & Chorus Cablenet Broadband

    Hey all,

I've got a Chorus analogue line coming into my house. I dont have a subscription right now with Chorus. I just use the cable to get the rte signals ie. I have no decoder box.

My question is - can I get Chorus Broadband as a standlone service and still use the regular chorus analogue cable coming into my house to receive the rte tv3etc signals. My suspicion is - the line has to be upgraded to digital before I can get Chorus Broadband and if this is so I woul dbe forced either to mount an antenna (which is not going to work with all the trees here in my back yard) or subscribe to a chorus service which I wouldn't watch very much.

    Cheers!

If you connect to a cable TV cable at all you are liable for charging, even if you have no decoder.

Usually you subscribe to minimum analogue package to get Digital. The cable can have:
    Analog only,
    Analogue TV + Digital TV
Analogue TV + Digital TV + Broadband

You need to ring and see if Broadband is available.

Not sure about Chorus, but I'm with NTL, and have

    Analog + Broadband

Digital tv is available to me, though I don't subscribe to it. Certainly when I signed up you could opt for BB and not be forced into getting Digital.

same with me. in Dungarvan i didnt have to get digital for braodband but the upgrade from analogue to digital is free so why not

They run a new line from outside and drill a hole in ur wall. You can still use your old cable, they wont touch it, that's what they did here anyway.

In areas that Chorus scrambles the analogue service, you can get bb on its own.

In NTL areas you have to get analogue TV + bb, digital is not required, but usually available in areas that BB is.
