CAM for New TV

Question regarding use of a CAM with my TV.

I recently purchased a Toshiba WLT66 LCD TV, which has a CI slot in the back to take a CAM. I have a subscription to ntl Digital.

My question is can I get a CAM to use with my TV in place of the ntl box?

I have done a few searches for CAMs but its all over my head.

    Any help/advice/suggestions? Thanks

No. That would be for Digital Terrestrial, not Digital Cable. If you can get UK Freeview Terrestiral, there is Topup TV.

In France there is TNT / Digital Terresrial that needs an MPEG2 / MPEG4 adaptor and viewing card for that CI (=CAM slot).

There are four incompatible modulation schemes for digital:
DVB-t = Best for terrestrial VHF/ UHF, echos (ghosts) improve the signal
DVB-C= Good for cable, more channels in less spectrum, can't cope with noise, interference or ghosting.
DVB-S = Good for Microwave and Satellite, weak signals with no ghosts
DVB-S2 = new Satellite modulation scheme saves 30% bandwidth.

So you have to use the NTL box as it does DVB-c and your TV does DVB-t
