Fitz 40 rebuy. Also, you should really look a wee bit harder before starting a new thread for a topic that Ollyk1 started this morning.

Yes, I know, I am a grumpy fcker.

Bah 4th in the SE for €125 profit.

Washout is still flying the flag and is in decent shape to take this down. Not so much a case of losing a 50/50 but losing a few coinflips in a row. Plus I was probably a mite passive but there were extenuating circumstances in the other players styles and abilities (lol that's what losers always tell themselves...).

Anyway I hope Dom et al had some better luck in the Fitz tonight.

76 runners in the Fitz, good game. Came 11th (bubble) when my KK got beaten by A7o on a 23456 board in a 65k pot and then when my AJo got beaten by QJo on a Q4463 board in a 46k pot 2 hands later at nearly 3am. 3300 first prize and a decent start to the pokerfest. I am sooooo peed off though. I can understand the A7 calling as he raised half his stack preflop on an overbet and decided to call for the rest of his stack. The nest hand was more annoying though as the guy with QJo wasn't a blind, and still had the button and blinds to act after him, but still decided to call 40% of his stack off with it. Ah well. Ces't poker as a French Chief would say.

Smurph had a monster stack early on but got knocked out with 4 tables to go in some fashion that was probably painful too but I don't know what it was.

Lex was the only boardie that I know of that was still in it, but there may have been another one or two left. Try again tomorrow night sure.

After 40 mins heads up I ended up chopping it for 2.5k with a fitz regular. His name was Pat I think.

What lead to the chop was one of the wierdest poker situations I've ever been in!! I'll post a thread about it tomorrow to see what everyone would've done cos I'm too wrecked now!

p.s. Nice to meet you Dom and very unlucky to bubble, esp when the all in on the other table was announced even before you'd gotten it all in yourself!!

ended up second. I ended up calling Pen or Pings all in twice both times i was ahead but managed to get dogged...anyways he ended up donating most his chips to the other guy.
i got his scalp though where i called his 7k all in from the BB in the dark.

the other fella had like a 4/1 chip advantage over me which i started to claw back into...i needed a double up though and eventually ended up pushing on an OESD which turned into a straight flush draw on the turn....no match for his flopped top pair though.

you were unusually quiet last night olly...but i totally understand where you were coming from.

what was the name of that old guy who got knocked out first hand of the FT?
i thought the chief was loose but this guy took the biscuit.

Motoring along and had 15K by break (including top up). After break 2 from bb, Blinds 100 200 Denis makes it 1,200 to go UTG, I look down Pocket Aces, make it 2,500 folded around to Austin in SB who goes all in for approximately 8K, I call he flicks over pocket kings, no help for him

I get my stack up to 28K and then our table breaks, get moved to table 4. Raise in mid position with AJh to 2.5K 2 callers. Flop is Q 77 , guy bets 7K I fold. This guy did the sigh and then bet, so not really sure about him.....

Couple of hands later, guy 2 from BB raises to 2.2k (blinds 200 400) I look down at 7d8d, decide to call. Flop is 5d6d3s, he bets 3k, I re-raise him all in, about another 7K. He calls and flips over pocket kings. I know I could have seen another card for 3k, but I thought he was on the continuation bet syndrome. I had a lot of outs, but alas nothing came to help me. (so this pot cost approx 12K)

Bit pissed off but sure that’s life. About 3 hands later I look at KsQh offsuit utg and limp in for 400, folded around to sb who completes. Then BB goes for his chips and looks like he is going to raise. Eventually he checks, danger bells here. Flop is Kd 10d 8s. He bets 3k, I called even though I had a bad feeling about it. You know when you get that sick feeling about the hand, Turn is 8d he checks and I check. River is 2s. He goes all in for 8k. I called and he gives me some hope by asking me have I any of that, I turn over KQ and he flicks over pocket Aces, bye bye another 12K pot.

Then pat Vickers joins the table and sits on my left. He has about 10K. I have approximately 5k left. So the hand that kills me off. SB I have 5c9c complete the blinds and pat Vickers checks. Flop 6c 2c 8h, I check he checks, turn is 9s, so I have top pair, inside straight draw and flush draw, I bet 2k he re-raises all in, I call he goes "f*ck you smurph why didn't ya check it" he turns over J9offsuit. No help on the river and im outta there.

on way home in car im thinking would I have played hands differently, maybe sit and observe the table for a while, blah blah blah, the answer is no. I think when you are hitting cards so early, that you become complacent, and nearly assume that you are going to hit your straight or flush.

Anyway enjoyable tournament, good play and not as much as a crapshoot as I thought. Had luck Dom, so close, the bubble is a bas*ard.

all looks fine Smurph and you got unlucky, maybe the limp with KQ UTG or the call with 78d(your push on the flop was spot on bytheway so post flop play was perfect).but sometimes it just goes that way.besides will you ever let the others have a chance of a bit of money :D

You must be talking about old guy with English accent-few drinks on board. He wiped our table due to deck smacking him in face having made brutal calls/bets. Examples:

    1. He was in SB with blinds at 200-400; pre-flop raise from EP to 1500 -re-raised by Eddie all-in to 9000kish-this guy calls all-in with J-9 suited. Hits two pair.

    2. 200-400 I raise to 1200 UTG with A10s-he is BB calls. Just the 2 of us. Flop comes J Q K-bingo for me. He leads for 2500: I push knowing he will call which he does showing J rag for pair of jacks. Doubles me up TY.

    3. Again 200-400 and I am on BB to his SB. Checked around to me with 3 players including him: I check with 10 7. Flop comes 10 4 2 rainbow. He leads for 2500 (as was his wont!). I push for c.12k with top pair certain I was way ahead. He calls me and shows 9 4 off for a pair of 4's. Rivers a 9 and its early to bed for me having shaken his hand and congratulated him on his hand. BTW: if the hand had gone the other way I would have been chip leader and he was crippled.

Somebody was bound to empty him but not me.

Wonder is he in town for the EPT!

I thought it was the right way to play at the time as the players were woeful and there was a lot of play left but an hour later and with only the odd steal to sustain me I opened up a bit but no joy.

I'm still unsure about my TT hand lol. I think I should have pushed to isolate as I had a very playable stack even if I lose and I have a chance to take you out which given your seat position would have been especially good. The fact I'd have lost is irrelevant (almost!)

I don't know the old guy's name. I was being friendly with him and he was staying out of my way that was fine by me! He's english Wes and wears quite thick glasses and was handing out some classy doggings last night!

Hard luck Dom in the Fitz. Sounds like a good game and a great crowd which is good to hear. I'll be in for one or two games later in the week

    Howye Istanbul.

I was on your left and that 94o and J9s was seriously crazy. He managed to get all his chips in (except 200) in the first hand of the FT versus the 2nd CL in a battle of the blinds.

He's in the BB at the 300/600 level (with ~35k). SB raises to 2.5k and he raises to 10k. SB pushes all-in and he finally calls with AQo versus the SB's AA. He loses. Makes a brief come back all-in on the SB but gets knoced out in the next hand with 99 and thats all she wrote. The the young guy with 70k manages to blow his lead (160k chips in play and went out in 5th for €100) it was that kind of table!! lol :p

Its a damned if you do or damned if you dont kind of situation.

Im convinced he would have folded his pocket 7s if you pushed though. but it is a very disciplined fold...
