Final "Must-Have" Titles on GC

Right, I'm looking for some ideas for a couple of stocking fillers and thought that my much neglected GC could get a bit of use. I was thinking of the new Zelda game (although it wouldn't suprise me if Ninty made it a Wii exclusive) and Super Paper Mario. Anyone know when the latter is coming out or have any other suggestions?

My fave game on the GC is Tales of Symphonia so anything along those lines would be more than welcome.

Wasn't the next Paper Mario canceled for GC?

There is Paper Mario and the thousand year door I think its called. I have that one and its great.

I thought that Paper Mario was due after Christmas. Feb or thereabouts.

Damn it, i wanted to get that.

Also, i thought i read that Zelda on the GC could only be got over the net.

All I know for sure is that there really isn't a lot left to come out for my precious little gamecube.

My policy at the moment is to pick up anything that looks half good in GAME Dawson Street while I can. They're nearly all second hand, mind.

Yeah, I think Super Paper Mario is a Wii title now (could've been cancelled altogether though...)
I noticed a sequel to Baten Kaitos on play-asia the other day... might be worth checking that out if RPGs are your bag

If you haven't already got it, Fire Emblem is utterly brilliant. Chibi Robo is a good one to pick up but has become very rare. The Baten Kaitos sequel got some great reviews. If it's like the first game it won't be for everyone but I enjoyed it. Didn't hear anything about super paper mario becoming a Wii only title?

It has only been announced that the GC version of zelda is available in japan as a mail order exclusive. Nothing has been mentioned about the availablility in the rest of the world but I wouldn't be surprised if it was mail order only here.

Edit: Checked up about super paper mario and it has been officially cancelled but is in developement for Wii.

Have you tried Skies of Arcadia Legends? It's another Japanese-style RPG, so a bit like Tales, but with turn-based scraps and more pirates.

Yes I played Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) and Skies of Arcadia Legends (Gamecube). I thought you would have guessed that from my login name:D Definitely ranks up there as one of my favourite games of all time. It's a shame that they never made a sequel. To anyone who has never tried it they are selling it on play.com for £24.99.

Thanks Retro. Will definitely check out Fire Emblem. I've been starved of JRPGs having an XBox. Can't wait for Blue Dragon though:)

I'll also give the original Baten Kaitos a try. Hopefully it'll have a decent storyline to it!!!

Anyone know when Baten Kaitos Origins is out here???

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't released here. Still it works with Freeloader.

Baiten Kaitos has an awful storyline. It does however have a cracker of a battle system. It's a bit of a grower so give it time. The more cards you can use the better it becomes.

Too rite the story was awful, the twist was nice but still... coulda put more better fmv's as well. Second one looks pretty much the same (well that's what i got from the trailer)

I was thinking about what game i should buy to finish off my gamecube but i haven't seen one yet. so i'll think i will put it back in it's box and wait a month.

Well I have 3 GC games and I would consider them all must haves.

    Mario Kart DD
    Res Evil 4
    Ikaruga

Yeah, was just about to suggest that.
Ikaruga is definitely worth picking up if it's still in stock at play.com (i'm beginning to wonder if i work for them:p)

Not many people have played F-zero GX. For me it's probably the best racing game ever created.

F-Zero GX is SO good. Get it if you can :)

Thats funny u should mention it.. I just ordered from CDwow F-zero Legends for the GBA <me DS>, it is in the bargain basement for €13.

Checked around an it seems to get around 78-80%, pretty good me thinks for €13 euro..

    P

The GBA ones aren't a patch on the GC one... :(

They're still brilliant all the same. 78-80% is a bit tough. F-zero and the legends games are excellent. I'd take them over any of the PSPs flashier racers anyday (I also much prefer it to mario kart other than the multiplayer but thats only because there is a huge skill gap between me and my friends).

I really like Evolution Worlds, which was a hybrid of Evolution and Evolution 2 from the Dreamcast.

I was just going to ask a similar question, I've had a Gamecube for a while now but kind of feel I've missed out on a lot of the consoles best games. Might try and get F-zero, loved it on the N64.

    For the gamecube I'd recommend:
Animal Crossing, for a full-on loner fest. Fantastic game, scarily addictive.
And Mario Tennis for when your mates are about. Great fun :D
