    Hi All,

I just got a letter from the Guardai, along with a photo and details of a speeding offence. Anyway I'm going to be getting 2 points for my troubles.

Does any one know if these points expire?

Are the with me for ever?

Has any one with 2 renewd there insurance? Much difference in premium?

    Any info appreciated!

They last for 3 years from the date there are apllied to your licence which is not the date the offence occured. Expect a letter in the next few weeks stating that the points have been applied and they last 3 years from that date

Most if not all insurance companies will not penalise you for having 2 points

Any more than 2 and they will load you

Dont expect the letter anytime soon. I was booked for speeding on the 20th of May and I didnt receive the letter telling me the points were being put on my licence till the 13th of September.

So, is it 3 years from the 20th of May or from the 13th of September that the points stay on your licence for?

EDIT: Sorry, just saw someone already said that it was from when they're applied. Hardly fair though, four months in the difference.

Ya I know but shur what can you do. There was something on the letter tho about it, it was something along the lines of.....it takes a while because they need to check if you are disqualified or will be disqualified after the points or something like that anyway.

You will receive a letter telling you the points will be added to your license. The date they are added is 28 days from the date the letter is issued. FACT. When the points are removed you will receive a letter to let you know. FACT
