Aussie Migration - Ins & Outs

I've managed to get work to send move me to the Sydney office so I'll be leaving Dublin behind in February. I'm curious to hear about anyone elses experiences with doing this. In particular.
    - Moving costs - What's the best way of moving my stuff to Aus?
    - Health Insurance et al - What's the story in Aus? Should I get private cover or is the health system over there the same as here/UK
    - House prices/Accomodation - Is there a Sydney equivalent of Daft? I want to get a feel for how much rent will set me back.
    - AOB - Anyone done this before? What questions should I be asking and/or do you have any insights into how to effectivly manage migration?

Can't answer all your questions but.

If you're sponsored you have to get health insurance. Prepare to pay for it (about 3 - 4 times the price for a resident).
I rented in the city centre. Cost us AU$2000 per month for a nice 2 bed apartment. Manly was about the same. You can get cheaper and more expensive, depending on your tastes. Have a look at realestate.com.au & domain.com.au (similar to daft.ie).

I haven't migrated, but I did come here on a WHV, and am now being sponsored

No idea about health cover, but I'm sponsored and I have no health cover

House prices, depends where, the eastern beach areas are more expensive, (Bondi esp), it depends on what you want really
if you want to live near the beach east side (the party places) double room can be 170pw+(shared house) (can get cheaper, in larger house) if you want your own 1bed place, about 250pw+ ... have a look on www.domain.com.au for a better idea

East - Bondi, Bondi Junction, Coogee, Randwick, Clovelly are the 'hot-spots' ie beach life,
City - Paddington, Surry Hills, CBD these are really nice cool areas, plenty of pubs, cafes and food places
West - Glebe, pyrmont, Newtown, are again really nice areas, newtown seems the bohemian place
North shore - Neutral bay, cremorne, mosman ... all beautiful areas, not too many backpackers .. if it's quality of living you want you get it here

www.whereis.com.au is great for maps of Sydney, gives you rough ideas on where places are etc
