Funds are going down so i have decided to get a job to fund my college drinking sessions.....

Thing is i have an interview tomorrow, in a hotel for a waiting position. It's on my lunch break and i'm just wondering would it be safe enough to wear the casual clothes i'm waering to college to the interview?

Also, on the phone she didn't use the word interview but more casually "a chat about my application"

prob no need to go in a suit and tie, maybe trousers and shirt would do, better than turning up in jeans and t-shirt

    What do you consider casual?

A waiting position will involve having to be well presented, so it might be a good idea to make a bit of an effort.

Id say smart casual would be fine....or maybe if you have a decent shirt and tie slip it on just before you go in, anyway, you can always explain to the interviewer that you're on lunch, they wont mind.....best of luck :):)

Yea i have thought about that, well my college casual is a plain long sleeve top with good jeans and shoes!

I have a suit, it's just trying to get it on, off within the hour and somewhere to store it before and after that's the problem! Maybe i'm just looking for a lazy way out, i'll try my best to wear the suit!

    Thanks guys

Just wear a shirt and slacks into college, and when you're goin to the interview maybe put on a tie.

Explain to them you've come over on your college lunchbreak, should be ok - I'm sure you've mentioned it to them already?

If you put across a good enough impression you should be alright :)

Do they not provide lockers in colleges anymore?

No matter *how* "good" your jeans are, don't wear jeans to a job interview.

The whole system of buying suits and getting dressed up for interviews is retarded in my opinion.

For some jobs you might well be right but if another candidate turns up in a nice suit looking like they made more of an effort then they'll have a big head start when it comes to getting the job.

I saw a guy turn up for an interview the other day in docs, combats and a full-length leather jacket (á la The Matrix). Suits make you look presentable, and also give a level playing field - employers are allowed to refuse you a job because you look scruffy, and plenty of them will, even if you're a good candidate. Whether you think it's stupid or not is irrelevant.

As for the OP, what everyone else says is dead on. Jeans and runners are a no-no. Chinos and casual shoes along with a shirt (and maybe a tie) will do fine, and you won't feel uncomfortable walking around college all day in them.

Well maybe it is just me, but I have always worn jeans to an interview, and have never had issues getting employment

I smell a rat here. So you want funds to fund the drinking habit eh? If you are such a great drinker then why would you be in college before lunch? Lunchtime is for getting up, not for having lunch.

Back on topic, just look smart and tidy - shoes, no jeans, teeth brushed.

:D maybe i'm just able to handle my drink!

Well, in the end i just didn't bother going in to college until after the interview, i wore the suit! Interview went well and hopefully next week i'll get some good news!

    Thanks!

ah no, NO to suits, you don't look smart because the suit is usually ill fitting, and you don't look right in it.

if your going to wear a suit at work wear a suit to the interview, if you going to waiter or any entry level job, slacks and shirt, smart casual is fine.

the end, dont' dress like a turkey
