The usb port on this device allows you to connect up an mp3 player and play the songs through the speakers, is this correct? Good price.

Hi, I have a 99 focus wondering does it come with an iso adapter. Also if anyone has put in a car stereo to a focus do the remote controls work on the side of the steering wheel or is this made obsolete once you put in a new stereo???

    Thanks

they won't work anymore, you can buy an interface adapter for the remote to a sony head unit but don't think there is one available for any other brand..

Does anyone know if this is the case, namely with an ipod???

in the aldi head unit, it has a usb port at the front, you can plug a standard pen drive into, not sure if an ipod will work. for a normal computer, does an ipod need a disk driver?

This is a fantastic unit; I have one myself. Further down on this thread there is a 2Gb USB stick for €38.

the aldi unit had an aux connection for the ipod and specifically advertised the ipod connection. The lidl unit makes no mention of an ipod connection.

If anyone gets one of these stereo's earlyish later on ,could they let me know their first impressions and if it has an aux feature , with the two jacks at the back for the aux lead to, say -hook up a mp3 player direct .

    Thanks,
    John

Just picked one up but havnt installed it yet.
Data formats: MP3 with ID3, WAV compatible.
Media: CD, CD-R, CD-RW,SD, MMC, USB 1.1 and 2.0 (stick or plug-in connection)
connections on the back, usual iso and also has line in l+r cinch plug jack, out front l+r and out back l+r(cinch plug jack loudspeaker connection).

Apart from that it looks good too :D

Got one myself and have it up and running.
Can confirm an Ipod will only work via aux input at rear of unit.(Phono)
I plugged my Ipod into the usb socket and it started playing songs which I don't have on my Ipod:confused::confused: It didn't work properly so the usb isn't Ipod friendly. Playback of mp3's on disc where fine.
    Radio has FM/MW/LW.
The unit i got looks different to the one advertised. The one in the flyer has a slot for loading cd's where as the one I got you have to drop the front panel to load cd(and silver),anyone else get the same type??
Unit looks ok,jog dial on the left of unit has a nice feel to it the the button on the right rattles around and is cheap as chips.
Sound is fine nothing mind blowing though.Over all not bad for €80.
And of all the headunits I've ever owned pioneer\jvc\sony the removal with this unit are the best I've ever got.:D Nice and strong unlike the rubbish things you usually get that end up bending when trying to remove the unit.

Got mine up and running too in a matter of minutes. Everything works fine except when I put my memory stick into the usb slot it comes up with usb but thats it, I cannot access the stick itself. However I put in a memory card reader with an xd card with some mp3's on it in the usb slot and it played fine. Anyone know if you have to format the usb stick in any special way. Mine is the same as tax mans , pop down face but apart from the issue with my usb stick its fine for 80 euro

There was a boards thread on this stereo - this time last year - might be relevant to those of you buying this time round. From what I remember, not all usb sticks are compatible with it.
There is an aux output at the back.

Ah, got it sorted. I just formatted the usb drive and stuck a few folders on it and it worked fine. Very pleased with it now :D

eh.. does anyone know of any shops in dublin still sellin them? went to coolock, baldoyle and finglas and not a sign in all 3. sounds good for €80 and i still just have a tape player/radio in the car!

you have to ask behond the desk.

only problem with me is that the memory ain't working. the plug at the back is only female and I'm now going to have to get an adapter to in order to change the pins on my card iso male connectors. :(

other that that its a solid unit

I bought one aswell, but now I'm afraid I will never have it working, as I made an a*se of taking out the propriertary '98 Toyota radio in my car - or should I say, I am not able to remove it. No instructions in the car manual either..Removing the screws and trying to pull out the stereo has somehow resulted in the fuse for the internal light blowing. do any of you know how the hell I get the thing out? I have posted this in the motor forum also...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,780 ✭✭✭pissed

I had that problem with the memory when I got my last cd player, each time the ignition was turned off I would lose all the stations. Got a wiring adaptor on ebay for a few euro and that sorted it out.

Dont know what the propriertary '98 Toyota radio looks like but on my old one it had like two holes either side of the unit and I used an old coat hanger and made it into two u shaped tools and stuck them in which released the clips so I Could pull the stereo out

Picked up the maplins christmas flyer today in blanchardstown. For those that missed out on this offer maplins have a bluetooth cd/mp3 car stereo for €118 only thing is it does not have the usb connection but still a good price as it doubles for a handsfree car kit if you got a bluetooth phone :)
