    Hello all,
asking this question on behalf of my father.
He has an 18 month old Compaq nx 9100. The screen went wallop on him a while ago, so he brought it into a repair shop in town to get it fixed.
Anyway, they've now told him that the inverter is gone, the only supplier is in Germany and that he'd be better off selling them his laptop for parts and buying a new one from them.
I don't know anything about this company, so I've no idea if this is really the best option for him, or if it would be better to try to source the inverter ourselves and get it replaced.
He's been told that his model needs to have a specific inverter, the model of which they photographed when he took his laptop into them.
Is this true, or will any inverter fit?
Any suggestions or help greatly welcomed.

I recently had a problem with an inverter on a fujitsu siemens and was able to get a replacement from the UK for £22 Sterling (Plus Delivery). It's quite easy to fit once you know what you're doing. I know that this company do parts for a lot of brands so they might have one for yours. Don't sell the laptop as I'd say they'd only pay you buttons for a laptop that's not fully functional. If you needed any assistance with this PM me.

Yeah it sounds more like they are talking crap.

I think its cheap to fix and they want you to sell it to them so they can fix it and sell it refurbished or something if its still a new laptop.
