As a long sufferer of at this stage chronic sinusitis, and having been thru the mill regarding diet control, miracle cures, and an addiction to sudafed etc. Has anyone any suggestions of where to get help, or is an op. the only real solution. Yer thoughts greatly appreciated.

Has the cause of your sinusitis been medically determined?

Bacterial, fungal, viral , allergenic etc?

Primarily as a yeast intolerance , resulting in sinus infection. Alas, yeast is a base element in most food and drink. Almost impossible to avoid and live if you know what i mean....so ?

You could consider seeing your doctor and if referral to a specialist in ENT or allergy would be a good idea. Indication for this is not severity, but also how troublesome it is for you......

I didn't know anything about sinusitis and definitely didn't think I had it until a few years ago I was in hospital for an unrelated problem under an ENT specialist and had my face x-rayed. The doctor seemed astonished I didn't have severe problems and said my sinuses were incredibly congested.

They did the op for draining them and only after did I feel the difference and realise how blocked they must have been. Haven't had any problems since.

I have had sore throats for years and hayfever - went to an ENT and discovered its all caused by viral sinus and allergys they said theres nothing they can do but I do find the hayfever injections fantastic got it twice during the summer and felt so much better, however last injection was august so Im back to having sinus and sore throats (from the dripping down the back of my throat again).

I was getting Sinusitus for about 2-3 years, chronically. Moving to london didn't help, air quality and all that. One positive that came out of it however was that I changed doctor. I told him what was happening. he told me to give up milk, and try minimise anything creamy or dairy. He also told me to drink fresh lemon squeezed into hot water as much as I could. Worked a treat for me, I've had it once in the lat year and a half.

Have/Had chronic sinusitis and Hayfever (and now Hayfever induced Asthma, oh joy of joys). Had surgery on the frontal and maxilliary sinuses 8 weeks ago and was fine for 5 or so until I caught a cold and back to normal then. Normal being in severe pain. The GF was on some Irish wedding forum and people there mentioned a product called Sterimar, a nasal spray containing salt water.
I have been using it for 3 days now and it has been brilliant. Even when the pain is starting, taking the spray calms it down. I haven't been totally pain free yet, but it is getting better day by day.

Also eating chilli's or spicy food can help me, also a whole raw clove of garlic helped somewhat.

Peppermint tea is also good supposedly.

For me however I can't recommend Sterimar highly enough. Available from most chemists. About €7 a bottle.
