Well as the title indicates my question already, any and all information on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm in my 2nd year of the degree course in UUM and just want to know would this be a good company to do placement in. Any people currently in the engineering/electronics discpline that are working in Intel id also appreciate any advice on what the interview would be like. :D

Interview AFAIK is mostly behavorial questions, just make sure you know what role you're applying for as if its a "Manufacturing Technician" (most likely) you will be working on the factory floor, doing shiftwork (12hours) alternating between days and nights. 3 days on and 3 days off. The money's pretty good though.

they aren't going to put a student on a degree placement into a tech shift job.
it'll be an ok place to work, but you aren't going to be doing anything particularly interesting. good placement to do as it gives you a feel what working for a big company is like to work for. you should try to find a smaller company the next time you are doing one.. they will ask you basic theory questions that should have been covered by your course. draw a full adder, a cmos nand gate, that type of thing..

I was in my 4th year of my degree when i did my placement in Intel as a manufacturing tech... they basically put the students wherever they're needed. 8 of the lads in my year were put in the same jobs as they were understaffed at the time. As Tar said pretty basic questions the behavorial ones are tricky and worth a look over before hand!

Was on work placement in 2005 in a projects / facilities team, alot of quiet time (tuning my gambling and horse systems - to perfection of course :D ) but basically when i did actually had some relavent work it was a highly enjoyable place, plus went in with few mates so always bit of craic - plus co-ops nights = GREAT!! fridays => very very bad!! lol

Overall in electronics / menchaincal areas going in a student you will often be bored but if u can hak that then go 4 it...

Shannon, I didn't want it so I threw it hard, heh heh heh.
Other people were being interviewed for the leixslip one, easy enough too.

Can you say no to an interview?
I really don't want this analogue electronics one I have in olimerick, I'll probably get the job. :(
I wan the one in HEAnet, they just applied for me, I fear it is too late. :/

Yep I did co-op in intel as an electronic student and am now here over a year fulltime.
    Behavioural-type questions would be
-Explain a time when you had to meet very tight deadlines and how you dealt with it
-Explain a situation in a past job when you didnt agree with their way of doing things (wont be worded exactly like that but you get my drift)
