FIFA 07 or PES 6

I've credit for 2 games, and Tiger Woods is a given for me. But I thought I would go sports this weekend and get a football game too.
I have an open mind as to which one to get, so has anybody seen any decent reviews/comparisons online? Or what do people here themselves think. I know the PES lot are a vocal lot about how much they don't like FIFA, but like I said I have an open mind.

Have you played either game in the past?

If so, which did you prefer?

My opinion would be that FIFA would be easier to pick up for people who have never played it before, but PES has much more depth and can be much more rewarding.

Go for PES if you want a footy game that will challenge you and might take a little while to get into

Go for FIFA if you want a pick up and play type game where you'll be racking up 4 or 5 nil victories after a couple of games

I'll be getting PES and Tiget Woods on Friday

PES winning do far. I have not played FIFA since PS1 days.. would have been maybe FIFA 01 or 02, so I guess it has evolved from then! I played a bit of PES 5 with mates but never owned it. So I guess I am comng from a novice point of view when it comes to any football game that isn't Championship or Football Manager :D

played the fifa 07 demo on the 360, and it still felt sluggish and detached. Has to be the new Pro Evo, each new addition to this game, has always been an improvement in my eyes.

I personally thought that around 4, PES just became too complicated, too much like a 'football simulation' to be much fun. I played it rarely (mostly when other people were about and wanted a go) and didn't even bother with 5. 6 is looking good, though, so I don't know.

I got FIFA WC (or whatever it was called) during the summer and I agree it's definitely a pick-it-up-and-play type game, but as you get more into it, it actually becomes less fun, as things that should work, don't (the idiot who keeps running offside, the spanner who won't make a dash in time, the fool who just kicks the ball in a random direction for your opponents to grab)

Are you sure that wasn't just an accurate simulation of Clinton Morrison?

From what I have read, pes6 on the 360 is yet another lazy port by the developer, with a load of features missing. I havent played much of pes since i never had a ps2 but seems like the developer just changes a few things here and there every yr and he cant go on doing this forever....

The seabass guy's answer for everything thats missing is usually " But we want to make this happen as soon as possible." ,

Seems he's living in a bit of time warp:

"XCN: Are you a fan of a certain soccer team and/or is there a specific player you admire in real life?

SST: If I wasn't a fan, I would not have been to do this job for a long time now.....Currently, I am a big fan of Robby Fowler."

    http://international.xboxway.com/interviews/archive/2006/10/04/xbox_360_pro_evolution_soccer_6_interview_with_shingo_seabass_takatsuka.aspx

He has no excuse's for not making big changes when the ps3 version comes out if its made from scratch

    http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=139647&skip=yes

" We also talked Pro Evo on Xbox 360 with Seabass, and he's confident that our version will be the best in the series yet. "We really wanted to bring Pro Evo to the Xbox 360 at launch," he told us, "and we want to apologise to our fans that we haven't been able to do that. However, we have been working for a very long time on Pro Evo for Xbox 360 and we're confident that it will be great."
    "

    Ye right

Pes 6 gameplay aside looks a pretty poor effort. Just a ps2 port instead of a true next gen game, no edit mode. The bundesliga has been removed. We all expect the gameplay to be good but it might even suck, who knows?

I won't be getting it, will continue on with pes5 until pes7 comes out.

Fifa 07 is vastly improved and its gameplay is more similar to pes than ever before imo

You hear this for every single release ever of Fifa. Its never true. The demo is the same old tripe.

Its still a bit dodge tho, got a 7.6 on its review over at ign. I'll be getting PES on the 360 cuz I just want to play PES in high def, other than that I would have gone for the 360 version, the fact that you can't edit the teams is a bit on the ****ty side! Means you wont be able to download the kits an all, at least united are licenced!
Any I think Pes will have great gameplay as per usual, and they've taken out the fouls that used to happen every 2 seconds in pes5 so it'll be moch more flowing! As for FIFA 07, me and my friend (Hes a FIFA fan, Im a PES fan) both agreed that it was rubbish yet for some reason really addictive!! I dunno!
    PES 6 for me!

Well ive played all fifa games in the past 7 or 8 years, and they have all the same thing, really fast unrealistic gameplay, ball glued to the players feet. There is none of that in fifa 07, its completly diffrent from previous games of fifa. The ball has mind of its own in this game and the game is slowed down just like Pro Evo is.

I have played both games. I have played loads of versions of fifa and pro evo 5 and 4. I like Pro Evo its a good game, but i think fifa is more fun. I dont care about this whole Pro Evo V Fifa ****e. I buy the game which appeals to me most.
You obviously are a pro evo fanboy if you think that this version of fifa is the same as every other, or you must be really stupid....I dont know which.

Well I got an early copy of PES6 and wasnt too impressed, so that must make me stupid. Or else it makes you stupid. Either one. ;)

thanks for all the posts... I think I am edging towards an EA double and getting FIFA.

Well, Limerick Dude, its looking like you were right and I was wrong.

Having got my hands on the full version of FIFA and *ahem*, played it, it seems for the first time ever that the two actually compare.

FIFA looks fantastic. Its complete, polished and really well put together. Gameplay still isnt there yet, but with having to come from so far behind its amazing that we are even putting the two in the same ballpark.

360 PES6 is shoddy as hell. Its still in beta. Online is a disaster. Editing has been removed (pesfan PS2 patch is already out). There are 8 stadiums, with rumours of the rest being for sale on xbox live marketplace. AI is screwed up, with keepers doing insane things. Features in the manual are missing from the game. The list goes on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 168 ✭✭Hoodle

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm not buying PES or Fifa this year.

PES6 has no edit mode, comedy goalkeeping, 8 stadiums. I'll take my 60 euro elsewhere. After playing the demo for Fifa 07 I thought I'd give that a shot this year until I find out that 360 has only 8 leagues compared to previous generations 27! One of the things I liked about Fifa was the depth and relegation/promotion and now this has gone!

EA, Konami, have a word with yourselves.

Right I've just played fifa 07 demo and I think it looks great but I was going to go for pes as I'm a pes fan but I'm really stuck now. Anyone know if pes 6 is on demo on xbox 360 around any of the shops in dublin?..or if anyone can point me to some actual in game shots?? Fifa looks amazing and I'm really tempted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 733 ✭✭✭Ronan

Well thanks for the all the replies. I got FIFA and all I can say is it is great!! way better than the demo. I'm loving it anyway :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,370 ✭✭✭Timans

I don't care about the Edit Mode, The stadiums.

Everything else is great. Great game, slowed down for a more complete game of football. All you people just like a good moan.

    Bleh, 8 stadiums, who gives a ****?

The bundesliga HAD to be removed as when PES were paying Bayern Munich to get them licensed, the whole league wanted money so they couldn't afford it.

There's barely any leagues in Fifa aswell!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,300 ✭✭✭CiaranC

Clearly people think that the 360 version, which is more expensive and on the 'next-gen' platform, should be better than the PS2 version.

Instead its an ugly PS2 port, missing a load of features with a few nasty bugs in their place.

If you dont care about the edit mode, you are totally out of touch with the PES fanbase. Your comments on the Bundesliga are just funny.

Some pes fans are pretty ridiculous. Refuse to say anything negative about the game. I got so fed up with the amount of praise pes 5 got. It was a decent enough game with a load of problems but people just tended to skip over them. The 360 version of pes 6 is a joke. I bought it anyway though, I have no willpower.

    lol

That's a ridiculous statement if ever I saw one

I've owned every Pro Evo and I've never edited anything, doesn't appeal to me at all

All I want out of Pro Evo is good gameplay and online play, I won't miss any sleep over not being able to change Beckhams haircut

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,300 ✭✭✭CiaranC

Its not just about changing Beckhams haircut. Its about having the latest transfers, better strips, correct league names, correct team names, replacement teams etc etc

Pesfans option files are downloaded millions of times for each release, thats saying nothing about editing the game on xbox, ps2 and pc.

I merely pointed out the reason why people are pissed off with the edit mode being removed. If you are a casual pes player happy with merseyside red and kmala up front for germany, thats great for you.

Good for you, I'd quite like to have the correct team names, league names, player names (and have the ability to make them look more accurate), competition names AND have the ability to make my own team for the Master League.

    Well me, for starters.

So you enjoy your keeper flapping at everything then and pushing it into the path of oncoming strikers almost EVERY time? Or occasionally standing outside the front post aka off the pitch?

So why not leave them in a la the rest of the Premiership in PES5 when Arsenal and Chelsea were licensed?

PES fanboys amuse me. I LOVED Pro Evo 1 thru 5 but now, forget it.

In what way is FIFA 07 better than the demo?

Surely the gameplay is the gameplay, you just get more time and more leagues in the full version?

I thought the demo was ok, I'd be tempted if the game is an improvement on that.

its better in so many ways, including the multitude of options you have, the menu is PACKED full of goodies.. my fave things about FIFA 07

    * ronaldinho in the loading screen - awesome.. so realistic. better than that isometric crap that you got with RTFWC (although, i remember thinking that was quite cool at the time too.. meh, Im fickle)
    * EA Sports Radio - nuff said.
    * FIFA 07 Lounge - cheat the bejeeeeeesus out of all your mates, the more you win, the more cheats you can add to your game.. excellent
    * Multiplayer online - so fricking smooth.. FRICKING smooth its unreal.. no lag.. none... nada.. Played with 2 of my mates. Got our asses kicked. But thats cos they were s%$t.. not me of course..

    Get this game.

I have to admit, I like Fifa07. I got it just to pass the time til Pro Evo 6 came out, but I find meself unable to tear meself away from manager mode. I never thought i'd enjoy bringin Shrewsbury town from League 2 to the Premiership! The thing about Fifa is that u have something to work towards with the scenario modes, the challenges, the unlockables. Admittedly i couldnt care less about havin Milans 3rd choice kit or havin some random football added into the game, but I lie the world XI and Classic XI and all that. And it does seem to be less Fisher Price than the previous Fifas. Commentary is muck tho.

In sayin all that, I havent so much as even seen a screeenshot of Pro Evo 6 so I may like that better...
