    Two Hands.

    live 1/2

    Villain 1 127
    Me 700ish
    villain 2 60sh

    I'm precivied as fairly tight,
villain 2 is general young guy who is pretty bad and who has bought in short.
villain 1 is a gambler type, pure and simple.

    I'm on the sb, villain 2 utg+2, villain cut-off.

V2 limps, villain 1 raises to lucky 7.

    I make it 20
    v2 calls.

villain reraises all-in for 100 more.

    I fold. Good, bad, ugly?

    5k starting stack.

    I'm on 12k.
big stack just sat down with 50+
    short stack has 2.5k.

    blinds 100/200

    I'm in mp, I raise to 500.
    Shorty moves all-in.
    big stack moves all-in.

    I fold. ?

    Hand 1 I call, hand 2 I fold

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Hectorjelly

    definitely call hand 1
    maybe call hand 2

while villain in the first hand is a gambler type and has quite a loose calling (He loves calling raises with 92 46 type hands, trying to stack people when he hits. ), paradoxically, he seems to have a fairly tight raising range. I haven't played with him much, but I've never seen him reraising all in pf like that.

hand 1 is a definite call

my pappy always told me not to fold QQ to a gambler who is sitting with 50bbs in front of him

I shouldn't have bothered saying he was the gambler type. I should have just said about him sitting around til 12 so he could go to the atm and win back his losses on the roulette table

quite loose or fairly tight...nice read.

players with 50bb play looser than those with 100. Unless they are really tight (and this is live so isnt likely to be true) just suck it up and call here, some times you will be beat; sometimes not.

He's a loose calling station with a tight raising range?

    1st Hand - I'd call.

2nd Hand - 2.5BB raise with QQ in MP? Looks weak. Shorty will push with any decent Ace or PP, and Big Stack looks like he's trying to isolate with AK. Call here.

Normally I'd be happy to get it all-in in hand 1 against this guy, but the fact that he knew my rerasing range was something like jj//qq+ (you'd think me being being predicitable would allow him to play optimally against me :( ), and the carefree way he threw in his chips, I had to let it go.

But most of the time I reckon it's a call. Anyway he turned over aces and the other guy called with 4s and hit a st8.

    Call 1.
    Fold 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

Surely hand 2 should be a fairly easy call?

Shorty has a wide range, as does the big stack, who shows some sort of weakness by wanting to isolate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭jimbling

    I reckon you're right phantom_lord.
I think hand two is a more logical call than hand 1. (although hand1 is easier cause of money involved and no tournament risk).
Big stacks range is very wide here.

Shorty had aj. Big stack had queens.

    Queens held up.

    1- Call

2 - I would have to be there but quite possibly call.

These people are all over the net, and the books say they are the best player to have at your table. Loose Passive is what PT calls them - they tend to have stats like VPIP = 55%, PFR = 2%. If I come across somone with these stats re-raising on the net I fold QQ - but I can't make those reads live.

    Hand 1 I call.

Hand 2-- Its one of them "I need to be there" to make a definate decision but in tournament play,I'd look at this situation as being an ideal oppertunity to turn my all right stack into a big stack. Your mp raise looked weak and big stack could try to isolate here with a lot of holdings youre beating. I think im calling here most of the time.

One reason I call the second one is that a guy who has 50K with blinds at 100/200 is usually a loose gambling idiot. His range would be wide. Or is that a typo in the OP?

    No typo.

Funny, he didn't seem like one of those, but then again he wasn't at the table long.

I was 50/50 on the call. But my above average stack, and the fact it was a team event led me to fold. But I was a weak tight player back then. Now I'd just ship it!
