    Hello

Hopefully someone can help on here?

My problem is that my work laptop - acer travelmate laptop switches itself off randomly. When it first happened a couple of days ago, when i tried to reboot i got a screen asking how i wanted to load, options something like - safe mode - reboot to last know windows setting etc

Since then it has loaded ok, and worked ok for periods of time before switching off without any real warning.

Has anyone got any ideas. I've had things suggested like hoovering up the dust as its probably a problem with the fan - or something to do with a memory etc

Just read a post on page 5 that pretty much answers my questions.

    Cheers

Right then, it turns out i do still need help. Having followed the advise in a previous thread i have cleaned (hooved through the air vent) the laptop.

I have now discovered that the problem - laptop shutting down only happens when the ac adaptor is plugged in. There doesn't appear to be problem when it is running on battery.

Anyone any ideas or should i get it seen to by a pro??

Price a replacement adapter before seeing someone about it.

I ran into a thread somewhere else where someone had a problem with the connection in the laptop for the power supply. I had a similar problem with a laptop before and Dell's advice was to replace the motherboard which would have cost about 400-600 Euro.

I just bought a new laptop instead. Needed a laptop and wan't paying for that kind of repair costs to get an out of date machine back.
