Menu & Chapters on dvd

I have a collection of avi TV programs on my harddrive - e.g. top gear.
Using VSO ConvertXtoDVD or DIKO, I have been able to transfer then to dvds in a format I can watch on tv. The problem is, the software takes say 9 episodes, and puts them on dvd - fine; but dosn't seperate them - seems to be all one large file.
What I need is an opening menu when I load the dvd showing each episode, so that I can click on the one I want. Is this possible with a dvd that's already burnt - I know nero has a chapter maker but this seems only to work on files pre-burning.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Big Dee,

Have a look at a few of the stickys on this forum. I'm pretty sure this is covered there somewhere.

If not then have a look at www.videohelp.com

    ConvertXToDVD does all that

When you add multiple .avi's to the project in the menu preview you will see the menu entry for each item it does not combine them by default.

What you may be observing is the auto play feature which is turned on by default so you don't see the menu ConvertXToDVD generates.

Click settings->options->authoring & un-tick auto start playback, ConvertXToDVD also auto generates chapters in the video stream but does not build a menu for them like on a commercial DVD however you can still use the remote to chapter skip.

Thanks. Yes auto play feature was turned on. I also set up for chapters every 10mins., perhaps this too is causing a problem?
Anything I can do to stop autoplay on the dvd's already burnt?
And I take it there's no other way of creating a menu then?
    Thanks again

I don't follow abut the chapter problem you refer to, if you created the discs with ConvertXToDVD then the chapter information will still be there but as for creating a menu that displays chapters in a thumbnail fashion I don't know of any programs off hand.

On the discs you've already made if you just press the menu button on your DVD players remote it will display the menu showing each episode.

The only easy way I know of stopping the auto play would be to use ripit4me on the DVD structure and force it to load the menu but that may not work and you would have to burn a new copy anyway.
And I take it there's no other way of creating a menu then?

Again I don't quite follow, ConvertXToDVD and Nero Vision both automatically generate simple menus for the DVD.
