State/Semi State jobs or something similar

    Hey,

I've been working in sales for the past year and a bit, and basically it has made me a few bob, but it has offered me no security, no chance of progression and very lil job satisfaction. I've worked for 2 small UK based companies, the last one shut their Dublin office cos of a financial restructure - and the present job doesn't seen too far behind that tbh.

What I'd love is a secure job with state or semi state body. I've given my CV to 2 recruitment companies and all they keep coming back with is sales sales sales :(

Is there somewhere that can help? I've checked publicjobs.ie and that has been of some help, but does someone know of a source where I can see who is hiring, or is there somewhere I can send my CV to and they will find me the 'ideal position'?

    Please and thanks :)

Not sure if there is actually an agency that deal specifically with public jobs, most public bodies have their own HR Departments and advertise themselves, either throught the national papers (Thursday and Friday) or on their own websites.

    :p

I will get the Thursday/Firday papers thanks, I've only remembered that I saw a few Departments advertising there where I saw them nowhere else.

Permanent public sector jobs are virtually non-existant.

The best you will get is a fixed-term contract, as I found out. I got a two year contract in my public sector position and it was made quite clear that that was it - no chance of anything permanent.

They are all on publicjobs.ie - you may have to wait for them to come around : they don't have vacancies all the time - panels are formed and they work off them.

Some appear on the FAS website too.
