Error beep

Hey all, Noticed a recent problem on my laptop as of late that i thought was very strange indeed. Every 30mins or so I hear the windowsxp error beep, no error dialog or anything just the beep. I scanned for virus and spyware but none was found.... Any thoughts?

Is this while running on battery by any chance ? or plugged into the wall ? or do you have any usb devices plugged in ?

It has happened both while running on battery and on mains... I usually have a wireless mouse plugged in but it has given that error beep before when nothing is plugged in at all...
