What leave am I entitled to?

    I recently started a new full time job close to home. I'm working from 8.30 to 5 mon-thurs and 8.30 to 4 on friday. The job is a contract which expires in July next year.

    On my contract it says I am entitled to 22 days per annum Holiday Entitlement in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997.

    Does this mean I can only take 22 days off between now and next July? How many days per month off am I entitled to?

    AFAIK, holiday entitlement is on a pro-rata basis - it is tied to how many days/weeks/months you have worked.
    Approx 1.5 days per month

    No - you will be legally entitled to a pro-rata amount of the 22 days as from now to July is 9/10 months.

    There are three different ways of calculating your annual leave:

    Based on the employee's working hours during what is called "the leave year", which runs from April to March. An employee who has worked at least 1,365 hours in the leave year (i.e. an average working week of 26.25 hours) is entitled to the maximum of four weeks annual leave. Many employers use the calendar year (i.e. January-December) instead of the official leave year to calculate entitlement.
    By allowing 1/3 of a working week for each calendar month in which the employee has worked at least 117 hours
    8% of the hours worked in the leave year, subject to a maximum of 4 weeks
    An employee may use whichever of these methods gives the greater entitlement.

    An employee who has worked for at least 8 months is entitled to an unbroken period of 2 weeks annual leave.
