Lotto multidraw now reduced to max 2 draws

Anyone know what the Lotto have reduced the max number of multidraws you can do from 8 to 2 ? I run a small lotto syndicate and this causes a real pain for me - I used to be able to do the numbers once a month. I now have to do them once a week, meaning I'm much more likely to forget. It also means that when I'm away I need to get someone else to do it for me.

Can't see the sense in this. No word on it on the Lotto website.

seems a bit stupid coz they are likley to reduce sales from people forgetting or away as you sed. Cant think of any reason they would do this tbh

My shop was told all the changes were temporary and due to a software upgrade. It's ridiculous that there's no mentions of it on the website when there's signs about it in some of the smallest shops.

why bother doing the Irish lotto?

a few million is nothing nowadays. You couldn't retire after winning the Irish lotto which is normally under 2m. That would only buy you a house and car nowadays.

chances are slim so why not do euromillions instead? slightly less chance but more money on offer. - life changing money.

Tell that to Delores whatsherface and the multitude of other lotto winners out there....a snowball's chance in hell is still a chance...

Yes, it's very annoying - and stupid they didn't announce it. I tried doing a multi draw in two shops and it wouldn't go through but no message came up saying why - the shops should at least know what's going on. A girl in one shop suggested it wouldn't go through because someone else did the same numbers!!!:o

I've been told it's coz of a software upgrade I presume it will be back in a few weeks.

work in a shop,ew were all informed they sent letters out the girl in the shop just wasnt told.........adn tat wouldnt matter having the same numbers unless it was directly after the person

We got informed by letters a few days before each multidraw was to go offling. As filipo says, the girl wasn't informed.

Anyway, its because of a software upgrade to the Lotto Servers as others have said. The reason the Multidraws have been disabled in stages is that a ticket entered into a draw and printed (think barcode on the ticket) will not be compatible with the new software. So you cannot have a multidraw ticket that has some entries that will overlap the software upgrade day and beyond. The update will only take a few minutes on the day in question (first week Nov. I think)

So when we were 9 draw days (4.5weeks) out from the upgrade day, all an 8 draw tickets draws fell before upgrade day, so no problem. 7 draws out, one draw on an 8 draw ticket would fall after upgrade so thats why 8 draw tickets were disabled. Ditto with the 4 draw tickets once we got within 4 draws of upgrade day. 2 draw tickets will go of soon and then a week later the upgrade will have been done and all multidraws will come back online.

As for the same numbers excuse of that girl. Logic is obviously not her strong suit :D Think about it. How would a lotto jackpot ever be shared if a ticket could not be printed with the same numbers as someone else. :D As filipo already said, the only time a machine won't print out another ticket with the same numbers is directly after on the same machine. This is to stop shop assistants accidently submitting a ticket twice.

I'll take a chance at a couple of million instead of having that last pint at the pub, thanks

Ads are going up around the place that the game changes from the 4th November...

€2 million jackpot for starters. Just saw the ad in a bus shelter whilst driving... but if they are upping the prize money, they are probably upping other things too.... (numbers, cost of a line)

Will probably have 90 numbers and the odds of the new york lottery, 1 in 40 billion!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it goes 6/49 and €1.50 per line, minimum play €3... and I wonder about the fate of the Lotto Plus draws.

about time they upped the prize money imo. hopefully they up the prize for 4 numbers and so on also

I remember years ago only getting 750 punts for 5 numbers!

Oh why did the dog have to be born on the 12th instead of the 25th! :D

Yeah, they advertised that on TV last night, assume they increasing it to 49 numbers now, like the UK Lotto. Don't think we have a big enough population to justify that tbh

I heard on the radio this morning (2fm) that it's going up to a min prize of €2m, with 45 numbers to choose from.

The odds will be going up to (hoping my combinations etc are correct:) )
    Odds:1
    Match 6 8145060
    Match 5+ 1357510
    Match 5 34808
    Match 4+ 14290
    Match 4 772
    Match 3+ 579
    Match 3 48

3 little numbers, making it 50% harder to win :(

damnit it should be easier to win 'decent' amounts!
I'd rather the very small prizes were much smaller, and the jackpot was harder to win, but that matching 5 gave a ~100,000 payout.
I.e more chance of winning lots, but the jackpot would still be special

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

lol 45 balls? They just doubled the chances of geting the top prize....and a minimum spend too?

Cutting their throats IMO....I'm off to do the euromillions later...120M tonight....even less chance of getting that but at least if I do it'll be worthwhile.

2 million? Still paltry really...be more worth your while doing the UK one if you can.

They have killed the Lotto

3 extra numbers, 1.50 Euro minimum of 2 panels and then they start the adds saying the jackpot has increased!
They only increase the first jackpot to start at 2 million instead of 1.5 million.
    It's a ripoff big time.
Now we know how the "suits" will be paying for their salary increases and bonuses this year
