As per the title - I'm considering getting an IR blaster type thing. After numerous Google searches, all I have come across are some bogey looking US sites. Anyone around here actually bought one? If so, where?

Also, of those that I have seen, they are all RS-232 (i.e. old COM port) based. Are there any USB versions around?

I'm getting a bit tired of having to set Sky to autoview every time I want to record something. :)

    Thanks,

    TD.

IR blaster like the one MCE uses (which is USB based) ?

Not sure about other ones but there is a hack that makes the MCE IR blaster universal allowing some cool tricks.

    Download here, full FAQ here.

Might be what you are looking for.

I didn't know the MCE remote came with a blaster! Excellent.

So, I can use the hack to get my GB PVR kit to change channels on my Sky box?

A Google search for GB-PVR & MCE remote brings back a lot of topics.

In the first link a poster links to a post on the GB-PVR forums where he outlines how he got the MCE remote + IR blaster to work with GB-PVR & Sky so I think that's a good sign :) .

He is using some other program called HIP to control the remote which he links to but I imagine the universal hack above would also work.

You know, I completely forgot GB PVR has it's own forum. I'll have a dig around there.

Thanks for the pointer on the MCE remote.
