Motor Problems

    Evening all.

A few nights ago my motor went ape! When I would select a satellite for it to go to, it would go to 90degrees east and stay there.

I checked all the connections, they are fine. The motor works manualkly, ie by pushing the buttons on the motor itself.

I have done a factory reset of my Strong 6355 and set it all back up again but the problem still remains.

Anyone come accross this behaviour before? The motor is a Motek bought from Zintek near 3 years ago.

    Thanks.

    MJ

There is a small hole on the underside of the motor. Insert a pin in order to reset the motor when it starts acting up.

Also select zero then on Strong, afterward.

Can you expand on what you mean a little bit Watty?

    Thanks,

Well there were 2 small pin holes on the motor. I stuck inthe trusty paperclip and in one hole found nothing, but in the other there was something in the way. I pushed on it with the clip expecting something to happen, but nothing did (I thought the dish might reset itself to some position or other...)

Anyway, cam back inside, setup 19.2 and 28.2 tried to swap from one to another and the motor went off to 90e again.

Ah well... last time this happened, I left it for a few months and then tried again and everything worked, till now that is..

Read the manual. The motor needs to be manually zeroed beforehand and the reset pin needs to be held for a specific length of time.

The motor gets confused if the connection is poor as the voltage drops too much when it starts moving. Do as Zaphod says. I had this exact problem trying to use a Motek with a Skystar1 type Sat card (it can't supply enough current at motor startup and eventually the motor is confused.).

You must have power on for Motor Reset to work!
