Me either. Of course I'm confused by many things, such as:

    a.) How is Eoin pronounced?

b.) Who are those strange folks in Karl Hungus's sig and avatar?

c.) If European equipment runs on twice the voltage, does that mean you have to carry around 9-pound batteries for your radio??

    a) Oh En
    b) Opeth
    c) What's a radio?

a.) as in 'Owen'? Not 'Eowyn', 'Win', or even 'Yoyn'?
    b.) ahhh. Makes perfect sense.
c.) Not 100% sure myself, but I've heard that the Oirish can get 'em from one of the 'technological countries' for only 133% of the actual value! :p

    a) Yup, Owen but in Irish
    b) Yup
    c) I just use an mp3 player actually.

Its Chuck Shuldiner in his avatar, quite the death metal pioneer. R.I.P.

Pretty much. But I'd have said more "Oh-In".

It's a subtle but crucial difference.

I'm thinkin' you have that right...since it's your name (or at least your chosen handle). :)

As in "I'm owin' my soul to the company store" ?

    lol :D

OK, the dude played in front of 20,000 people and one guy says
hope you snuck a few quick wankies in there :). let the crowd know you rock. ;)

Do I really need to explain what a **** is (on this side of the pond)? :p

As ways of letting the crowd know you rock go, it's not one I'd think of doing in front of 20,000 punters :D

Yeah... you'd assume so but really I've actually never looked into it. :) There might even have been a fada on the o at some point, I'm not sure. What's much cooler is that the d in my surname (which is Danish) is supposed to be silent. Apparently! If I ever verify that I might start pronouncing it that way myself. People get confused enough as it is, so I figure I might as well go all the way.

You'd think this name-origin stuff would be splashed all over the net, but it's actually pretty hard to find......
the only Danish reference to Madsen that I could find claimed that it's the Danish analog of Matthew -'son of Mads'. The 'd' could very well be silent or dh/th.
As opposed to the Norwegian version (son of the strong man) or the Anglo-Saxon version (derived from Mathilda!!??!).

Yeah, the name is indeed derived from "Son of Mads". Mads being the father of the Madsen who was in line when the Danish government introduced fixed surnames in the mid 19th century. :) It's actually a pretty common name in Denmark.
