Old Iron Mike has signed for 10 exhidition matches with Pride. First one is said to be new years day and could be between him and either Sapp or Fedor. Tyson is not allowed in japan so it won't be happening there.

Signed with Pride a few months ago, although this is the first I heard of 10 exhibition matches...

Unless there the worst promoters in the world this has not happened!
not on pride website-he was just promoting the name-pride for money.
He has signed to do a couple of 4 round boxing exhibitions but either way he has admitted he has not got the heart for a fight anymore-hunger is not there and that is a boxers/fighters worst fear. any way in his day he would of destroyed these lads.

I'd love to see Tyson knock the **** out of Sapp, shut up that fat piece of disrespectful lard.
Think Fedor is in a completely different class though to Tyson with regards MMA, we can only assume Tyson has been working other aspects than boxing for only a few years at most?

Mike is the best boxer of my lifetime and its a sad day to think he's resigned to fighting exhibition matches for a few bob. If his current and ex-handlers have any shame (they clearly don't) they should hang their heads. He wasn't totally blameless of course.

Stories about Mike Tyson depress me.:(

What is your problem with Sapp? He is a million miles from fat btw. He always struck me as a nice enough guy.

Bob Sapp is one of my favourite K1/mma fighters. He might not be the best fighter by a long shot, but it is pure entertainment watching him fight, funniest fighter ever.

He beat Ernesto Hoost twice by TKO, no bad feat in itself.

Dunno I just dislike him, like that time he got two little dolls before some fight, labelled one as his opponent, can't remember who it was, then ripped it up and starting biting and spitting out the stuffing of the doll, really struck me as immature and disrespectful towards the opponent.
Anyone got a link to the vid?

in 2004/5 was Tyson not doing Muay Thai training on the side with some american MT Trainer.

Then when I was training in Fairtex Bangkok, it was all over the Thai papers that Tyson was coming to live in Fairtex to train for K1....who did we get instead....Jack Osbourne :-(

    What a F**Kin inspiration....Jack Fooking Osbourne.

I think Fairtex was just milking the Tyson name for PR. good business machine that Fairtex!!!

That was gas! And he ain't fat! Like it or not, a certain level of what you call disrespect is inherint and neccessary to sell tickets, psyche out your opponent and make the fight game that little bit more entertaining. Sapp is a clever guy by the way. I'd warrant there's many fighters making as much as he is for so little talent.

Thats a really stupid thing to do.

Thats like something Blackie Lawless the signer in WASP would have done back in 1986 to sell a few extra records, and drive the crowd...avergae age 13 1/2 years old to fever point....I know cause I was on of the 13 1/2 year olds.

Sometimes I wonder is all this american orientated combat sports going to get up like WWF or Hulk Hogan and the Undertaker stuff.

Programs like Ultimate Fighter (while I admit do have their interesting moments) are going to be the start to it. or what was the other thing I saw on telly recently over here in thailand. I was perving one night watching Chic TV Channel (like Fashion TV ) cat walk model stuff...and there was Chuck Lidl plonked right in the middle, front row of the cat walk! LOL!

actually I am just jealous Chuck was able to get a better look that I was from my arm chair! LOL!

Speaking of music Thin Lizzy last concert ever in Ireland Thunder & Lightining 1983 DVD has arrived today, so I got to go off and do a Phil Lynott! Bye!

No one is expecting much from tyson, thats why they'll be exhibition matches, he does not want to get seriously hurt nor does he want to make a fool of himself. As for it not being on the Pride website, i can't explain that but its all part of the restructuring of Pride given there current difficulties for pretty sure its a go.

On September 28th Tyson announced "The Mike Tyson World Tour" in which Mike will fight in a series of four round exhibition matches in the US, Europe and Asia. The first of these matches is schedueled to be held in Ohio on October 20th, 2006. The explicit purpose of the tour is to help ease Mike Tyson's spiraling debts.
PRIDE FC has announced plans for Mike Tyson to fight in the group's New Year's Eve show. Tyson would face a PRIDE fighter under boxing rules. Since Tyson is not allowed to fight in Japan because of his criminal record, PRIDE wants to stage the fight in Macau. The fight would be broadcasted live on large television screens in the Saitama Super Arena, where the regular mixed martial arts bouts will be held.
LETS WAIT AND SEE-but if its boxing it could be entertaining!

I think we all can agreee after watching UFC 1 & 2 that strikers who enter MMA with no ground game don't get on very well. While Tyson would have taken the top guys in a boxing match, I think it's very unlikely he'd have his own way in a MMA contest.

I'll believe it when I see it. Didn't he sign an exclusive contract with K-1 a few years ago?
