Protected Building - Conservation Rules

Please move if this is on the wrong section...

I am sharing an office room in a protected building in Dublin city centre.

However, the wallpaper is a bit dull and so we're going to give it a coat of paint.

Can anyone tell me if this is allowed as the building is protected?

The landlord suggested we need permission from the council, and so I have also contacted the conservation section there - hoping to speak to someone there tomorrow.

If anyone can shed any light on the situation in the meantime, I'd be very grateful.

It all depends if the wallpaper is protected!! That sounds strange but it can happen. The conservation people in the City Council should be able to advise you but as they can be a wee bit slow I suggest you contact An Taisce, the heritage body. I have found them to be very helpful in the past.

The owner of the building will have recieved a document from the council containing all elements of the building that are protected, this can range from structure to finish.
