The beginning of the end for allofmp3?

    BBC News reports that Visa and Mastercard have stopped accepting payments from allofmp3 due to the questionable legality of the service. Full story here.

    Has this affected anyone yet? Not a big problem for me - I don't like paying for legal music, but definitely not going to pay for illegal music - but I'm sure many users on here rely on this site for much of their music.

    Damn american government. The obviously put put pressure on credit card company to stop. It is legal for them to sell the music as they are within russian law. Ill keep using it anyway.

    that's shyte... I have used it quite a bit. Went to top up there now with CC and the site says:

    Unfortunately credit card payment is not available at the moment. You can make a payment at http://www.alltunes.com/. You may use your AllofMP3.com login and password.

    Got the same message about a week ago. Was able to top up with no problems through the alltunes.com site. Took a bit longer but still worked.

    Hi, What is the current situation with this site? They say Visa/Mastercard pulled the plug but I lodged $25 last night via mastercard.

    Have a look at gomusic.ru. It seems to be the same kind of setup, with all the same legal issues no doubt.

    They're not paying for the music, so giving it away for free with advertising seems reasonable. I wonder who would advertise on a site that supports pirating, though.

    The Visa/MC stuff may only apply to American users but it's good to see that they're doing something to combat the problem.
