Networking Password Problem

    Hi,

    I have 2 pc's networked as follows:

    1) Windows 2000 pc connected to broadband router
    2) Windows XP laptop connected to broadband router

They both picked eachother up automatic in network places so i didnt have to play around with settings i didnt know anything about thank godness. The only problems i had was with firewalls which i now have fixed.

Heres my problem. On PC 2 i have a program that is installed on the network i.e \\program files\MyProgram.exe and not installed on the local drive i.e c:/program files.

It needs to be installed like this for it to work. Anywho, when i restart windows each day and try to connect to the program i get an error. To bypass this problem i have to go to My Network Places on the Windows XP computer and click on one of the network drives at which point i get a pop up box asking for my login username and password, both the username and password boxes are empty. If i type in the username of computer 2 it will let me view the files and then i can start the program THEN but not before manually entering the username. I was told this was because both computers need to have the same windows login details so i made these changes:

I have both computers setup with the same windows username to login lets say "home" in this example and both dont need a password. To login to Windows XP i just click on the button and it auto logs in and on windows 2000 i just click ok at the login screen and it auto logs in.

So how do i set it up that i dont need to manually enter the username each time i restart windows???

I presume the folder is shared on pc2? If so search for pc2 on pc1 (start=>search=>computeron the network). When it finds it double click pc2. You should see the folder you have shared. Right click and map the network folder to a drive letter, F:\ for example and ensure reconnect at logon is ticked.
